So anyone going this year? Or have been in the past and know what to expect?
My husband surprised me with 2-day tickets for my 30th, and this will be my first year attending. (:

Joe's there with the Digital Press/VGHM folks every year, setting up the classic gaming "lounge." Funspot in NH brings down the arcade games. Beyond that, it's a madhouse like any other big cons. The Indie game booths are usually something to check out.

lol
I was definitely planning on stopping by the free play lounge.
The husband's coming too, but the baby is staying at home with his grandmother for a week. So really it's like two awesome vacations rolled into one for me. I love my son to death but I can't wait for a little personal space. Ironic saying that, since I'm going to a con, but ya know.
Also how's the vendor room at PAX? Any classic stuff, or is it mostly newer items?
I planned on going but my project will be around then. If all works out. I will be there. If all doesnt work out...well you know [insert kicking and screaming montage]
Its an 8 hour drive for me, but I have done way worse for way less. As in work. Ha.
I've been going to Pax East since 2010, and its always been a great time. As far as vendors go, I've always been able to find both classic and modern games there, as well as imports. Sometimes they are a little on the higher priced side though. Nothing beats all the free shwag you can get there. From T-shirts to little odd souveniers, even download codes for in-game items and free games. I don't usually like to wait in the gigantic lines for the high profile unreleased games. Its just a waste of time to me when I could just as easily look on at the screen of someone else playing and be on my way.
I've been to all of the PAX East editions, except last year's, and I'll be attending this year. And don't forget that PAX East isn't just about videogames, but also tabletop games! Also, where else than PAX can you see people gathered around a monitor in the hall watching an intense tag-team Jenga competition?
Joe, I'm glad to hear that you'll be there this year, no schedule conflicts for you like last year!
zomg Joe is alive!
I keep hearing about how great PAX East is, but getting there seems so hopeless. Passes apparently sell out instantaneously and it is impossible to get a hotel room, if I am not misinformed.

Yeah, my husband was camping out on the PAX site waiting for passes to go on sale, when unbeknownst to him they announced a new sales location over Twitter. Apparently by the time he realized what was going on the 3 day passes had already sold out. This was in the span of a few minutes, mind. But ya know, spending only two days at the con is fine with me. Luckily we have friends in Boston so the hotel isn't even an issue, and I'd like to spend some of my vacation time in the city.
Damn I missed the sale again?
And eBay/stubhub prices make me vomit with rage.
Maybe next year...
