They appear similar, but the publisher and developer are entirely different. Usually people confused Cybernator and Metal Warriors as being together since Konami published both but they're not either.

So no one that helped make either game worked on both either then? Just seems odd, if there's a rip off there's one that usually sucks but both of these are decent games

Speaking of relations that have no bearing on anything. Both robots on the cover seem to have been inspired by Zeta Gundam, specifically The O mobile suit. Otherwise, yes, both are good games while being unconnected.

Both games are heavily influenced by Japanese mecha anime (most specifically Gundam), so its not shocking they both share similar mecha design philosophy, they're both 'borrowing' from the same sources.

Metal Storm is by Irem (the R-Type guys), Metal Warriors is by LucasArts and is sometimes taken as an unofficial sequel to Cybernator, but its technically not related.

That's if I've got my facts straight.

    This.

Welcome to 90's mech art/design, where the philosophy is "how big and clunky can we make it and how tiny should the head be?"

They both are influenced from Gundam obviously. I will say that Metal Warriors was/is still a awesome game, they should remake it sometime in HD.
