Default Favorite and least favorite abbreviations for games and consoles?

What are your favorite and least favorite ways to abbreviate names of video games and systems?

I prefer "NES" to "Nintendo NES" or, gasp, "Nintendo ES" for the Nintendo Entertainment System. "Original Nintendo" or "Nintendo" works, but NES is preferable. "Nintendo NES" is redundant.

For Sega Master System, I prefer "Master System" or "SMS". Once again, "Sega MS" falls short. "Sega Master" just seems incomplete.

For TurboGrafx-16, "TG16" is the best. I like "Turbo" as well.

PC Engine doesn't need to be abbreviated.

For Sega Genesis, there are so many. Some that I like include "Genny" and "Genesis". "Sega" works for me. "SG" is just odd.

Sega Mega Drive is fine as MD, but I prefer "Mega Drive".

Super Nintendo Entertainment System? "Super NES", "Super Nintendo", and "SNES" are all good to me.

Super Famicom? "SFC" works well. "SuFami" is the most awful abbreviation on the planet.

For Nintendo 64, "64" is just a number. "N64" is much preferred.

PlayStation - PSX, PS2, PS3, PS4 seem to be the foregone conclusion. Works well for me.

Game Cube - I prefer "GCN" over "GC".

In summation, I'd say I like 80%+ of commonly used abbreviations. The only one that sticks out as awful is "SuFami".
Real collectors drive Hondas, Toyotas, Chevys, Fords, etc... not Rolls Royces.

Nintendo ES is retarded. Ive never heard or seen the NES mentioned in this way ever.

I think SuFami is a cool name.

I'm led to believe "Nintendo NES" came from ebay or similar sites just because people wanted people to find their ads whether they searched for Nintendo or NES. Then it became the norm elsewhere online.

I'm a collector, but only to a certain extent.
Not as extreme as Rickstilwell though.[/quote]

    Least Favorites:

PSV (This just looks weird to me, I don't know why. ._.)

Who ever writes Nintendo ES? That's dumb. And I agree when you see stuff like Nintendo NES, Gameboy Advance GBA and so on, it's a sales tactic in case a blockhead searches for a game title +system a certain way and the search tool doesn't catch all to grab it. I do it on my auctions on ebay int he body where I'll write 'up for auction here is the Nintendo NES game...' and it helps.

PCE would be PC Engine, so yes, there is a way to logically shorthand that one, just like how the Turbo Duo just gets called the Duo by people.

You may not like SuFami, but it's a legit Ninteno device: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sufami_Turbo
I don't recall people calling the SFC a sufami before.

    Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance.
GB/DMG, CGB or GBC, and GBA or AGB going by abbreviation or product code.

The GCN one never made sense but I did use it, people seem to forget it's product code isn't that bot DOL for Dolphin. A weirder one, gameboy micro, OXY. Pretty sure it's not made from zit cream.

I never understood how GCN got used, let alone officially. It just sounds backwards.

If speaking, the only consoles I will abbreviate are NES and PS1.

As a side note, Nintendo NES isnt always redundant... Ive seen it listed this way before, similar to the Ferrari Enzo Ferrari, where the make is placed before the model name. There was never a product just called "Entertainment System"
