OK, real quick question here.
Tonight I started a SEGA master system collection through an eBay purchase of 8 SMS games for $13.90 - R-Type, Kenseiden, Alien Syndrome, Shinobi, Altered Beast, Double Dragon, After Burner and Space Harrier. A fairly good start since I'm a huge R-Type fan and Kenseiden and Shinobi are among my favorite games on the console.
While I'm anxious to try 'em out, there's one problem - I don't own a master system, powerbase converter or master gear.
However, there is an SMS in the house! One of my friends owns a master system and a decent share of games for it, but the remainders of the collection were found in a large garbage bag in the closet without the power cord or AV cable.
Assuming it still works after god knows how many years hidden and dusty, I may have a solution, but wanted to double-check before I test it out.
I've read on a few sites that the Model 1 AC Adaptor (1602) will power an SMS without problems, and Genesis Model 1 AV video cables will do the job for video output. I just happen to have 2 1602 adapters and a model 1 AV cable in my model 1.
While I'm pretty sure with the AV cables "if the part fits, it works", my concern is the apparent different voltage of the 1602 vs. normal SMS power supply.
TL;DR - Has anyone used a Model 1 Genesis power brick with a Model 1 SMS without problems? Thanks in advance for the peace of mind
