Default English Neo Geo CD games?

I wanna get into this system, but it seems it's difficult to find English games for this. I don't mind Japanese imports, but I'd really prefer English. For obvious reasons. Not much available on Amazon, where do people recommend I shop??

I've only ever seen them pop up on ebay, and that's seldom. I saw an English print of Viewpoint on there once in a lot with Japanese games, and it caused the lot to be pricey. I can understand if you're collecting complete copies you would want the manual in English. Let me know if you find any info on this too. I assume that far fewer US copies were printed than Japanese and that the console would have sold better in Japan than anywhere else.

I'm a collector, but only to a certain extent.
Not as extreme as Rickstilwell though.[/quote]

    1. The Neo CD unit is Region Free.
    2. All Japanese Games minus the 8 Japan Exclusives will be in English in the US System.
    3. Get US System, buy Japanese Games.
    4. Win.

We're specifically talking about collecting purposes here, not playing purposes. The information you gave us is already common knowledge. We want to know the actual rarity of English releases and where we can usually track them down.

Actually, it isn't clear to me that the OP was talking about strictly for collecting purposes. You already seem to have a good idea of rarity of the English releases based on your prior statements. Other than Ebay, there are occasionally English Neo Geo CD titles that pop up on various gaming marketplace forums and Neo-Geo.com. Other than a tiny number of vendors like the store sections of Neo-Geo.com and Arcadeshock, I'm not aware of any other steady sources for English Neo Geo CD games.

It just makes me wonder if it's because of actual rarity or the original owners not ever wanting to sell their good games. After all the Neo Geo library is one of the most solid and a person's patience for loading times probably wouldn't change over the years. I wish sales numbers could be found.

    That. ^

Especially since it's "Classic Gaming" Forum and not "Classic Collecting".
Also, the OP states "I don't mind Japanese imports, but I'd really prefer English. For obvious reasons." - In reading that, it's assumed he meant the 'obvious reason' was that he didn't want to read Japanese.

That aside and back to the OP, US Neo CD games are few and far between. Freaking unicorns.
I'd usually recommend places like eStarland, Play-Asia, etc, but even their wells are dry. I don't think Neo-Geo.com's own store has that many US versions.

    eBay is pretty much it.

I was kinda just referring to gaming, actually, I don't have much knowledge on this system, but it's good to know the Japanese games are pretty accessible. I've been stalling on getting into Japanese Saturn games tho, so I wasn't sure if the NGCD was good for me either, but I suppose u don't need English in shooters and run-n-gun games, or fighters. The games just look so killer. It's also interesting to know they made Double Dragon for the NGCD, I'll be sure to give that a try

I never see Neo Geo games in my travels tho, same with Japanese Saturn games. Saturn games r scarse in my area in general, actually.

Double Dragon wasn't a side-scrolling beat'em up - it was a cheesy fighter that loosely referenced the horrible live action movie.
