That's pretty much me in a nutshell. Lurked for years, mainly looking at the Import forum looking at pick ups for ideas on new games to try, until one day I decided to join in and see if I could contribute, ask questions, and talk about the stuff I enjoy to a different group of people.
Well good for you! It's what I did. I started to get turned off by some stuff online elsewhere, decided I needed a change where I could freely talk about stuff without fear of reprisal so I stopped just being a reader and made the account back then. I liked the game discussion, the old stuff, and the lack of a hardcore collector base with control fascination behind it.
I don't think less traffic is really a bad thing. The boards here still seem to be largely full of informative topics and intelligent discussion compared to stuff like the retro console boards on Gamefaqs, where you'll find topics like these:
