It's worth more than the $2 you paid. You can probably expect to get at least $20-30 for it.

There are demos worth even more than that, just hope to come across the NBA 2-Ball demo for PS1. One copy previously sold for over $700 on ebay.
I would think the real valuable demos though, would be for canceled games or maybe if they were super-early and as such containing significant difference from the finished game.
NBA 2-Ball's gotta be an exception, since if it was ever meant to be a full game it wasn't finished. And it's probably a good guess that even if thousands were given away at some sports event, a lot of people probably didn't care and tossed them.
As one of the experts on many different systems demo disc I can confirm that your demo is definitely on the cheaper end of the spectrum. I regularly sell demos for $30-$60 and over the last few years have sold a few for $80-$150 and one for $300. You just have to know which one's are valuable and which one's are worthless.

What's a good source to find out which demos are sought after? I don't see much of anything in that high-end price range on sold ebay auctions. I ask because I have a decent-sized pile of demos, several sealed on PS1, but the only ones I really play are the Dreamcast ones with unique content like Toy Commander Christmas Surprise or Super Boom Tread Troopers... and the PS1 demo for MTV Pure Ride that I play in the winter trying to max my score on that one track.
