Actually the US AKI games came out first on the N64.

VPW64 (the first VPW was on the PSX and brought over, modified, as WCW vs the World) was a very expanded version of WCW vs nWo World Tour. Most of the US content was intact (a couple secret characters were removed) as was the WCW license, but lots of phony wrestlers that THQ insisted on sticking in the games at the time were turned back into real (mostly japanese) wrestlers (or okay under Japan's looser laws lookalikes), many more wrestlers in total, extra modes, the ability to edit wrestlers costumes, etc. Also it had battery backup instead of using the controller memory card.

VPW2 however, does not directly correlate to any US release. It came out after and uses mostly the same engine as WWF Wrestlemania 2000 (which actually did get released in Japan as well), but the roster is entirely different, very few american wrestlers, ones known for wrestling in Japan, and there are some other differences in modes little touches that make it fit more with puroresu of japan rather than north american sports entertainment. This one actually had the All Japan promotion's license, so those guys are all intact, others are again lookalikes, sometimes requiring you to go into the edit mode to change them to look more correct.

If you like any of the AKI engine games, they're well worth getting, just make sure to track down a translation FAQ as the menus are all japanese.
