Default So apparently something new was discovered about Punch-Out on NES...

This morning when I went to check my Yahoo email, I happened to see this article:

    http://www.polygon.com/2016/4/9/1139...l-piston-honda

Basically, apparently there's a visual cue people only just noticed, that tells you when to punch Piston Honda for a one-hit KO. Apparently the cue is a bearded man in the audience.

My question is: Is this really news to anyone, or just to people inexperienced with the game? I'm remembering years ago a site was saying they discovered some "secret" of Samurai Shodown's that I'm sure was mentioned in FAQs.

The one-hit KO is not news to most, but the visual cue in the audience is. Try to find any reference to it on the internet before this week.

Personally I think it's neat that it was just discovered after all these years and never leaked or mentioned by anyone involved with the game's development.

I haven't played the game since I was a kid, but is this the thing where there's a guy in the crowd who flashes a camera or something like that? If so, I've heard about this before now. If it's another thing than it's news to me. I was never a fan of Punch Out, so I'm not that informed.

Wow, very neat. I suppose that since Honda is pretty easy nobody really focused on that. This would not be that easy of a thing to find, because the bearded guy barely flinches.

Don't you fight Piston Honda twice though? and he's harder the second time?

You do. He's the Minor Circuit champion, and you fight him a second time in the World Circuit. He is improved the second time, but he's still pretty easy, as his patterns are mostly the same, just a little faster.
