Nintendo sure has a lot of special edition 2DS and 3DS consoles. I just got the Metroid edition to go along with the NES edition, Yoshi edition and Super Mario Bro's 2 editions I already had. I don't really need another 3DS console, but I have to admit the Super NES edition sure looks nice and is tempting me.
I wish Nintendo's competitors would follow suit. Sony is pretty good with special edition consoles, but the Vita is sadly ignored in North America. I've considered picking up a plain Aqua Blue edition simply because there hasn't been anything interesting since the Vita launch editions. What a shame! Microsoft seems pretty content making boring black and white consoles. I think they both leave a lot of money on the table with the lack of special edition consoles. My hats off to Nintendo's marketing.
