well this weekend was a huge waste of time. got up early, on a weekend even, got ready got things together and the damn car wouldn't start.
by the time things were said and done it was almost 1pm. I was PISSED...

the rest of the day went to shit after that and we had a surprise thunderstorm that night so that ruined any sunday chances

Usually yes but not always. A few years ago I went to a sale in my neighbourhood around noon or 1:00pm, I ended up finding a Super Famicom with a floppy based game copier along with floppies, a Game Gear with several games(imports from what I remember), an original Gameboy with some games(possibly imports too), and a modded PS1 with a bunch of backups. All for $20. I have no idea how it was all still there by the time I got there, but I was happy and carried a large box with it all back home as it was that close. The Super Famicom just needed a new video cable, although I still haven't tested the portables yet so they might be broken. It was pretty early in the year for garage sales so that might why.

Also if a place doesn't unpack their boxes properly you can still find stuff. I went to one place maybe around 10:00am and found out they sold a bundle of Atari 2600 stuff right at the start, but I managed to find an original Gameboy with a handful of games for $2 that was buried in a box full of random junk.

I went to one sale in my neighbourhood maybe last year that was advertised as a video game garage sale, all of the flyers basically made it look like it was from a professional dealer. I still went a bit late but managed to find a handful of N64 games for $5 each, and an Xbox for like $10 but it came with the High Definition AV Pack, I think a couple of cheap Wii games too. It seems most people avoided it thinking that there wouldn't be any deals because the ads made it seem like a dealer, but it was just somebody getting rid of his games which were mostly Xbox, 360, and Wii stuff.

I picked up PS1 Rebel Assault II and Halo 3 yesterday at a Goodwill for $4 and $3. There were a bunch of good 360 games, actually (Skyrim, Oblivion, ME, FO3, etc), but they were all games I have and played on PC, and not a system I collect for at all. I only bought Rebel Assault because it was in perfect condition. Turns the copy I have is the GH, so that's a win. There were also a bunch of decent PS2 games, but nothing really spoke to me, I guess I've just lost the collector in me. Wish I'd gotten SW EpIII, but thought I had it and didn't bother to check.

Turns out that they just opened a GameXchange store a stone's throw away from where I work, so I walked over on my lunch break and bought a loose Jawbreaker for the Atari 2600 for $14.95. I'm really happy to see a GameXchange store that isn't an hour's drive away from me.

another town wide yard sale and another bust.

but on the way back I showed a friend a flea market that people run out of a mini storage place (blew his mind) and I got:

Outrun (Gen) $10 Loose - Cart looks brand new
TMNT Tournament Fighters (Gen) Loose $5

I was surprised to find outrun, I was just thinking about rad racer style games

Didn't had a chance to go to flea markets but I stepped into a "frikiplaza", that should roughly translate to otakusquare. That place has many people playing trading card games, has quite a few arcades and gaming stations for rental, anime, Japanese candy and figures.

    Found

Zelda Oracle of Seasons, Cart Only, very nice condition: 18 usd.
Pokemon Emerald, cart only, very nice condition: 15 usd.

Saw a few interesting games that I don't own, like Code of Princess, for 22 usd but only purchased those described above.

    Cheers, mates.

So my family and I biked around to Art-a-Whirl in the neighborhood today. Used to be a very art-centric thing with open galleries and such, but has sort of exploded in recent years with live bands at the many breweries and restaurants. So on our way from one of the art buildings to the place we wanted to eat dinner (Anchor Fish n Chips) I spotted a shelf with like 5 PS2 games on it at a yard sale. Pretty random that I even looked, because there are quite a few yard sales during art-a-whirl, and luckily PS2 games are pretty easy to spot, because I only caught them at the last second riding by the cars parked on the street. Even so, it was a toss up whether I'd stop or not, with 2 kids and wife following on bicycles. But I did. I don't particularly collect PS2 games, but thought maybe there'd be something else good. Turned out it was a shelf of DVDs, BluRays (probably should have bought xmen and x2), and the ps2 games. Nothing I cared about particularly, but I must have remembered subconsciously to grab the one game I did. With manual and in nice shape. For a dollar. Just looked it up and I guess I did alright and now have the next game on my to-play list...

Haha! Fortunately the spine one is just tucked under the plastic, and the others are just on the case, not the paper.

also couple months back i ordered the hyperkin suparetron hd snes clone....I really like this system...i've seen reviews online and they werent great but werent bad...but to me the games look great on my 32 in 720p Vizio i have in my bedroom....yea its not an anolog super nt...but i am happy with it...and got it for $60 shipped

between that and the retron 5 i'm set on clone hd consoles

other than that...i cant really remember what i've gotten lately...trying not to spend so much on videogames this summer....oh yea i did get tmnt hyperstone heist for the genesis for like $30 shipped...the cart is beat up but it plays great

I found a battered but unopened Sega Master System controller for $4.95. I think I'll leave it in the 2nd & Charles plastic sleeve for an extra layer of protection.

I picked up a loose Star Strike for the Atari 2600 the other day, I think that's the last M-Network game I needed (outside sports titles, which is no big deal since I won't ever collect them).

Not much to mention yet, just a bit at yard sales:

    June/July:

Saw a Nintendo 64 with wrestling games at a yard sale for $80; didn't bother to ask.

    July 13:

New Super Mario Bros. (Wii, Complete) - $2 (and I don't have a Wii to test it to sell it on eBay)

    July 14:

    Gamecube Games:

Harvest Moon (With Box and Animal Crossing Ad; Box is faded)
Namco Museum (Complete, damaged box and insert)
    Paper Mario: TTYD (Complete)

    $1 apiece.

I sold Paper Mario for $42 (minus shipping) shortly after purchase.

Since I'm thinking of it, I might as well mention that some months ago I was talking with someone who found a copy of Earthbound on SNES for $5 at a Goodwill and promptly sold it for a nice profit. It looks like deals are still around.

Over the past month or so, my wife has come home from garage sales with maybe 10 games or so. The ones I remember are Mario Kart Double Dash, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Super Monkey Ball 2, and Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness.

The times I went out looking anywhere I haven't found anything. I think all I got when I went to a used games store recently was a Nyco Perfect Shot Wii gun shell for a couple bucks.
