I for one like Final Fantasy 1. Its not amazing, but its one of the top five on NES IMO.

The dragonwarriors are very good. DW1 is tied with or a bit lower then FF1, but still.

Holy freaking god. Someone else remembers Magic of Scherezade. You have no idea how happy that makes me. That game was so cool.

In addition, I just wanted to say .......I"m no longer a level zero! YES!

They are not traditional RPG's, but Shadowgate, Deja Vu, and Uninvited are some of my favorites on the NES.

    Default Princess Tomato

If you haven't played Princess Tomato, you really should. It's more like Shadowgate/Deja Vu/Uninvited (way different engine, but same idea) than an RPG, but really cool just the same. I love that game. If you like these 3, you will love Princess Tomato.

Uncharted Waters is another NES rpg that might interest you. Another title that comes to mind is Hydlide, although I'm not even sure if that's an rpg or not. There was also a D&D game, I forgot the title though.

    Default hmmm...

hydlide is an action/rpg, there are 4 a d&d games on the nes: pools of radiance, hillsfar, heroes of the lance and dragon something or other(lol), which is a flying/shooter, of all things!

uncharted waters is cool, pirates! is slightly cooler...=^P

I'm not a fan of RPG's in particular, but I did like Dragon Warrior I & II a fair amount. That's about all the "true" RPG's I've bothered to play for any length of time on the NES. They may not be obscure, but there is a reason for that.
