    Default SMS rarity question.

Ok, its come to my atttention that there are 3 ?(maybe more?)
variations of SMS's, ones that have no programed games on them....ones that have Hang on only programed into them...and ones that have Safari hunt as well as hang on programed into them...are these just kinda random, or is there a rarity on these?
    Thanks if anyone knows.

    There's a 4th one: Missle Defense 3D. Runor has there's Hang On/Asro Warrior

Early SMS didn't have any games built in, and then later on SMS packed with light gun had Hang On/Safari Hunt, and the 3D package has Missle Defense 3D. The Hang On/Aster Warror is still a rumor.

Never heard of Hang on only version.

BTW there's also SMS2 console with Alex Kidd or Sonic the Hedgehog.

I have the Hang-On only version.

I found only one FAQ on the subject (it's the same one that DP has on his site), and the guy isn't sure about all the variations available on the console.

And the first version of the console may not have had any real game bundled in, but it did have the hidden maze game.

All SMS 1 console has it. The ones with regular game built in, you have to use the access trick and hold the controler before turning the system on t0o bypass the built in games.

Do they really? I have the SMS 1 (as I said, with hang On), and haven't been able to access the maze game.

But the fact remains that the very first version of the SMS only had the maze game as the built-in game.

Okay, I finally managed to access the maze game on my SMS. The access trick, for those unfamiliar with it is to hold both buttons and up on the d-pad at the same time, before or as the Sega logo appears (before the Sega chime). If done properly, the screen will move sideways to the first maze. If not, the built-in game(s) will load instead.

It's kinda tricky to play the game at first (there are some light-coloured barriers that are harder to see than the other, darker barriers. Of course, it didn't help that the sun was covering part of my TV screen. :P
