I'm sure you have! But since our stuff is publicly posted all over the place I don't want to assimilate his work without getting permission. I'm glad to see that you've expanded on his work and I'm sure he is too!Originally Posted by ragtime_tgs
Great work!
I think it's best to work together, it would be nice if there were some people from France, Spain and Italy that could add to the list.
Submissions:
Dutch version of Lufia also came in big box with strategy guide.
I see you've also removed license codes that are on my list (for example the FAH and NOE codes from Spirou). Why's that?
Last, I don't know either what 'GPS' means, but I own the Yoshi's Island cart with this code.
i changed many region codes because the actual games are the same in the uk,ger, fra and esp version and the list is much easier to maintan and to browse that way.
of course its not 100% correct in most cases since many games only come in regional ukv/noe/fah/esp flavour and not as a eur version.
personally these region variants dont have a high priority for me as a collector, thats why i kicked them...
maybe the best thing would be to add additional region codes behind a single game entry and only create new entrys if the games name, rom or boxset actually differs
from the other versions.
like
Wolfenstein 3D Imagineer SNSP-6W-[UKV/ESP/FAH]
Lion King, The Virgin SNSP-ALKP-UKV
-Le Roi Lion Virgin SNSP-ALKP-FRA
-Der König der Löwen Virgin SNSP-ALKP-NOE
oh and one thing i dont know about is the -1 in some game codes,i suspect this is the revision of the rom.i dont have any games with a -1,but you can easily verify this if you open up such a cart and look for the writing on the maskrom,it should say something like SPAL-XX-0 or SPAL-XX-1 where xx is the games license code and 0 or 1 is the rom revision.
could also mean something else however...
is it possible that your gps yoshis island cart was part of a set containing a snes and this game?(i dont know how the set is called)
what region is it from and is it any different from the other yoshis islands?
did you take a look inside?
guys calm down, don't discuss that much about single games before we even decided if we join up and how the list format will be
i would love to team up with you two
this is what i suggest: Ruudos you should give joe your permission to use your list, than he will convert it into his database format and tell us how we can add/change things and give us what we need for it
after that anyone of us can change and/or add games to the list, we should agree on one format though before we start anything (i think the format it mainly given by joe though)

I'm with you on that.Originally Posted by hydr0x

I've PM'ed Ruudos.
the games were just general suggestions for a possible format
basically, everything that is easily editable/browsable is fine with me.
sounds good, i hope this "project" will work

I've given my permission
About Yoshi's Island, I bought my copy new back at the days here, but it was not ment for the Dutch market. The manual is English-only. I shall take a good look at the box and the manual, I don't have the tool to open the cart. But as Hydr0x said, let's discuss individual games later.
OK, it's converted!
I need to know who to send this to: it will be the data file and the explanation of fields. The data file is in Excel format and is very easy to work with. It's best to keep this with one "owner", it can get very confusing when three people are working on the same section (trust me, I've been there). I'm assuming Ruudos will receive at this point.
I'd also like the three of you to email me with your name so I can properly credit you. Send this to digitalpress@email.com
Thanks again for your efforts!
you're totally right, 3 people working on one file doesn't work at all, at least not if everyone has his own file, working online on one file is another thing
ehm, you already should have my full name as i'm credited in the US-SNES and JAP-SNES list, but here we go again: "Jan Baart"
but joe, could you pls also send me the files, i will not update them or whatever , i just want to know how they exactly look and work so i can better understand if Ruudos can do what i suggest
my e-mail: janbaartATgmx.net

btw @ruudos, my aim and icq are at the bottom of my post, you should add me to your contacts, that could help us a bit i won't be online to much though in the next days, cause i've got to kill my master-boot-record and install everything again, my hd is totally fucked up
one other thing: I do speak dutch if you prefer this to english, though my english is better.
-Jan
i will also have msn as soon as windows is installed again, i only do have aim/icq clients under linux

@ DigitalPress, you can send the file to me.
@ Hydr0x, I'm pleasantly surprised that you know Dutch, but I think it's best to communicate in English (unless you really want to use Dutch).
great seems as if things are getting started
@ruudos, my dad was born in rotterdam (YES, i'm half dutch ) that's why i speak dutch, i also have some relatives in that region
i will check my snes collection for missing codes now
-Jan
@ ragtime_tgs, I noticed that you changed the code from all games that were FAH, UKV, SCN< NOE to EUR. Do you own these actual EUR-carts? Not every game has an EUR-version.
BTW, should we add box and manual codes too?
i'd say YES, cause a german release of let's say Super Mario Kart is totally different from the uk release, even if it would have the same cart with choosable languages
it's the same with the Super Classic Serie (like Players choice today), it has completly different box and manual, so it should also be listed, although the cart was/is the same as in the original release

I'm wondering how's this done with the PAL NES listing, or isn't anyone working on a PAL NES listing?
I'll have the file in your hands this weekend, fellas.
