the hot streak continues!

the great thing about vectrex hunting is that you can spot them from 50 yards away, which explains how i beat my friend/competitor to this one, we arrived seperately but at the same time on opposite ends of the flea. well at any rate i did my huslting best on sketchy russian dealers, the guys who want $5 ea for genesis games.

some bone head had locked the controller in the slot upside down and backwards so it was impossible to turn the power knob. of course the russki didnt know this so i did the dumb act and said "well let me plug it in to test it" of course nothing happened, the big guy starts mashing the controller buttons and fiddling with the brightness knob to no avail. "bad fuse" he says, i say i'll give you ten for it, just for parts, he concedes. he then confirmed his cluelessness when i asked if he had any of the things for the cart slot, he produced a milk crate full of printer cables and tried to find one that fit the slot.

of course i still didnt know if it worked but it would have been worth ten for the controller alone. it wasnt until i was in of all places the subway station bathroom, insert joke here, that i pried the controller free and plugged it into the MBTA's outlet...nothing, no tube fire up noise no buzz nada..dammit! oh well the controller is there and someday i might brave vec. repair. so here i am at home all over the vec pages looking for a good repaiir walk thur, saddened i decide not to open her up til i can borrow a meter from somebody and maybe a soldering iron...then i decide to give it another chance, just for the hell of it. still nothing, its dead..waahhh. but i figured i'd give it the homer repair and smacked it a good one. DUN-ta-DAH, she comes to life in full working order! so that makes three vecs in my gameroom, the minicade, the everyday play unit and the trade model

one loveable vectrex seeking a good home...
