Default I'm really pissed off!!! Can anyone help me?

    Hello...

about three days ago I borrowed one PS2 game and one saturn game to a friend. One hell of a friend, because he returned the games today, I wanted to play them, but then I got pissed off!
The Intro on the PS2 game would stall and the music of the saturn game would skip certain parts.
He scratched my cd's! Son of a ....
There are no really deep scratches, but there are a lot of light scratches.
My question is if there is a way to put my games working well again, some way to repair the cd's...

    Please help me!

    Thanks!

    Regards!

You might want to try something like GameDoctor:

I personally have never used one, but people have told me that they work. Good luck!

Ugh...this is why I don't let anybody borrow my games, not even my friends.

The game doctor does work, but i leaves a really nasty design-thing on the back of your CD taking your excellent condition cd right down to poor.

Your best bet is to find some one who can professionally resurface them for you. It usually costs $5, but it very well could be worth it.

    Oh...and smack your friend.

If you want the "ghetto school of CD repair" ...

Take some toilet paper and some toothpaste. Put the toothpaste on the toilet paper, and start rubbing the underside of the CD. Do NOT rub in circles, only in straight lines from the center of the CD to the edge and back.

The grittyness in toothpaste is just sandy enough to buff out the scratches, while the toilet paper should be smooth enough not to create any additional problems. Believe it or not, I've had a pretty good success rate with this technique. It's never made the problem worse, at least, and I've done it with many rental CDs/DVDs that didn't work when I brought them home.

    Does anyone ever used gamedoctor?
    What experiences do you have?

About professional resurface of cd's, how does it work?
Do the cd become like new?

    Thanks!

For dealing with that friend....look no further:

As for the cds, the gamedoctor is pretty spotty and makes the cd's look like crap on the underside. I'd recommend professinal restoration or the tp method mentioned above.

Heh, tp = toilet paper and tooth paste. I'm easily amused. Shut up. ;-)

I'll have to try that later. I've got a couple discs with minor scratches that cause a couple of annoying problems.

A friend of mine who worked as a molble DJ told me this ... use Turtle wax or ay carpolish for that matter and wax on, wax off, my exp has shown that it works wonders sometime or not worth a cr*p other times.

I have heard that game doctor and the dvd cleaner thing that they sell at suncoast works well for surface scratches. Some advice to all, don't lend out your games! Esp. games for older systems like saturn that are hard to replace. I hate asshole friends that have no idea how to take care of other peoples stuff!

I borrowed Dynasty Warriors 3 and it came back all scratched -- like really huge gouges -- and that tothpaste thing actually worked.

BTW, the same guy also "accidentally" broke in half one of my other games, he actually paid me for that one, but needless to say he won't be borrowing any more games from me.

I have used a DVD/CD doctor. Basically it shaves the first layer off of the disc, and thus the scratches too.

I refuse to use one again because it makes your discs look like absolute crap. They do not become like new. They may work like new, but they look like they were sandblasted.

Professional restoration does pretty much the same thing, but your disc will work AND look like new.

    I use a car buffer.
Turn it on , lock it on. Turn it upside down.
Hold your disc with both hands and do about 1/8 of the cd at a time.
Use some car wax for deeper scratched ones.
I haven't had a cd I couldn't fix and make look near mint in a while.
By the way, that is all that is in a professional re-surfacing machine basically. A high speed buffer with a cutting pad on it.

Game Doctor works great -- I have one. Never used it on a game CD but I've repaired some music CD's that way.

Who cares what they LOOK like, though? How much do YOU look at the underside of your CD? I sure as hell don't.

But DON'T use it unless you know you are going to keep that game for the rest of your LIFE. I can't imagine anyone wanting to buy a game CD that has that 'sandblast' pattern on it.

    Thanks for all the replies!

    I have a few questions:
    - What kind of thootpaste should I use, just a plain one? I am asking this because there are lot's of different types, like whitening ones, herbal ones, and so on...
    - About the game doctor, what does the cd look like after? Can anyone post a pic?
    - If I use the game doctor will the intro play smoth again?
    - How many times can game doctor be used on a single cd? For example, I use it, the game works fine, but some time later it's scratched again. Can I use it again?
    - Is proffecional restoration expensive?
    - In what kind of shops should I look for professional restoration?

I'm sorry for all the questions, but it's the first time this happens to me...

    Thanks for all the help!!!!

    Regards!

I just used the plain old cheapy white toothpaste. I would think that you ight not want to ue the whitening stuff, cause doesn't that have little crystals in in or whatever?

I have only used a Gamedoctor on my one of my dreamcast CDs, and here is a description of what it looks like:

The underside of the CD is very white/silvery and is shiny.
You can still see the scratches on the disc, but it will work.
You can kind of see little lines that, are blue in color, if you tilt it side ways a little.

I would definitely use it again, because it will make your game work again, if that is all you want it to do. I wouldnt use it if you were going to sell it though.

sisko is right though, it does take the first layer off of your CD. Hope that helps.

Yay, all hail tooth paste. My copy of Beatmania IIDX 6th Style was having some problems with the song V, but I gave it a good buffing and it's back to normal. Go to fye and look for the Magnavox CD cleaning cloths. They come in packs of 5 for 99˘, and work great for applying the tooth paste.

My Toolbox For Fixing Everything In the Universe™ now consists of the following:

    Duct tape
    Isopropyl alcohol
    Pepsodent
