Default Do you "bother" to report auctions?

You know, I see a LOT of posts in here where people hope that eBay will shut an auction down.. Either because it's against the rules, or ripping people off, etc etc. But there are only so many eyes for so many auctions. What I wanna know is: do people even "bother" to report auctions they see?

I've reported several auctions involving piracy, and ebay rarely takes action.

For example, these idiots are selling burned copies of Battlestar Galactica and other Sci-Fi shows and ebay doesn't remove them. This is particularly egregious because they currently sell those brand new.

I don't seem to stumble on them as nearly as often as other people on this board, but if I do run across one, I report it.

Especially those auctions that are cleverly worded to screw a novice and unsuspecting buyer,

I usually report auctions where the seller is charging an extra fee if the buyer uses paypal (obviously the seller is a premier member!) and even though its against the rules, ebay rarely shuts them down.

I also report auctions that use white hidden text (text spamming?) where the seller lists every possible game for a console so if you do a search his auction will pop up. Sometimes ebay closes these.

I find that ebay is more primarily concerned with shutting down auctions that may offend big companies like Microsoft (particularily with OEM products) and Sony (modded Playstation units) than looking out the little guy like us buyers.

If it's an auction I'm involved in, I report it. Otherwise I don't. It's no "bother" (hell, anyone can do it, it takes 3 seconds) but I've got enough to do without helping eBay manage their own rules.

I'll report when the shipping is simply insane and the seller is avoiding fee's. Otherwise, if they have so many problems, maybe they should hire more people....

Should this really be a surprise, though? It's unfortunate, but if eBay shut down *all* the pirate sellers and etc., or even just the ones that get reported, they'd lose a lot of their business.

It's worth their while to keep the big companies happy. It's not worth their while to drive away a lot of business, even if that business is operating illegaly. Unfortunately, the buyers suffer because of this.
I only need 2 more NES games (US)!
