Default Colecovision - Easy to collect for?

I missed out on the whole Coleco thing back in the early 80's. I quite like the idea of beginning a CV collection.

Is it fairly painless to build up a library of games for? What are the rare/expensive items?

I am based in the UK, and to the best of my knowledge, NTSC carts will work on a PAL system?

the most enjoyable games for the system are fairly easy to find, and quite reasonable (zaxxon, ladybug, mouse trap, donkey kong, donkey kong junior). a few of the more expensive titles are fun too (up n down, qberts qubes, mr do's castle, steamroller).
There is a topic in the "Classic Discussions" forum about the most enjoyable games for the ColecoVision- many on that list can be had for under 10$ a piece, many times for that price complete.
it is fairly easy to build up a quick library of fun ColecoVision games, but at a point the hunt becomes very difficult and you will have to start shelling out more bucks.

ColecoVision games are universal and will work on any machine!

local CV collecting is near impossible. I've only run into CV carts in lots of 2600 carts. Fun system though.

I've built up a fairly decent sized collection over the years without trying too hard. My games came from garage sales, a few from flea markets, trades, old newsgroup auctions. I never bought any off Ebay. I set a $13 limit for myself and won't pay more than that for any CV game(not new homebrews though). I mainly a player, not a collector. In my experience you can find most of them but you'll have to buy whole CV setups just to get the one or two games you need. It's no problem for me though cause you can easily resell or trade CV stuff. The Xonix double enders always were by far the most expensive when I saw them, $110+. There's also label variations for the double-enders to collect that go for more money. Don't worry about PAL/NTSC with CV carts. They're the same.

I'd say it's one of the hardest myself. It's rare to find carts in the wild, and
things get expensive after hitting the halfway point on the 150+ game library.

Some years ago, finding ColecoVision cartridges around here was, well, not easy, but not overly difficult, either. But I haven't found ANYTHING around here since the Summer of 2000.

I'm hoping to find Galaxian, Fortune Builder, Destructor, Illusions, Tutankham, Juke Box, and certain others. Not likely, though.
