    Default Atari issues...

I've got 2 Atari 2600s I'm trying to repair, both having some weirdness to them...

First one is a Sears Heavy 6'er. It seems to think the fire button is constantly pushed.

The other one is an Atari 4 switcher. Works fine, except for the sound is nothing but fuzz.

    Ideas?

Hmmm. If the controller is known good, and the fire button acts like its stuck down, first check the pins in the controller ports, for bent or missing pins. If those check out, go inside, and follow the traces that the port pins are connected to looking for bridges or cuts or other weirdness.

I had a 2600 once that had a blown IC that runs the controllers. I'm sure there are others here who can remember the name of the IC (I don't). I followed the traces to the IC, and it was socketed so I yanked it, and pulled another from a DOA 2600. Popped it in and Bingo, controller weirdness stopped!

Whoa, you own exactly what I have, yet mine both work *wheeww*

I've been told here that there is no Sears 'heavy sixer'...

..yet my Sears six switch is considerably heavier than my Atari four switch.

My other ones work.. these are my spares The condition of the Heavy 6er and 4 Switcher I just got are incredible. The 4 porter looks brand new.

I'm trying to get the other ones to work to trade
