    Default Noob Collector

I have been collecting for a while but am a complete nooob who needs some advice and reccomendations. I have a couple questions first:
1.What is a good starting system?
2.What is the best place to buy, besides trading?
3.Is CGE good for buying systems at low prices?
    4.How much money is needed?
5.Are there any chain stores that carry classic games?

    1. Collect systems that you were fond of as a kid, or would like to become fond of.
    2. Well if you go for NES try Gamestop/Gamecrazy. Everything else you should try for swap meets, thrift stores, and garage sales.
    3. Kind of, but most people know what they have.
    4. Not that much if you go to swap meets to buy. A lot if you go on ebay to buy.
    5. Again Gamestop and Gamecrazy come the closest with NES in stock all the time.

    1. Not to sure, many people here are in Michigan, and back east.
    2. 2600- $10-20 NES-$10 SNES- $20-30 DC-$20 (around)
    3. Dunno.

The last time I was in Texas I was pretty far away from the video game stuff so I couldn't say how it is out there. You might have some pretty stiff competition for stuff, and then again you might not.

Good system for starting with? I'd say Genesis. Great games (if you know which ones to look for) and everything's still cheap. Even better than the SNES or NES in terms of availability. That, and it's just starting to get harder to find Sega Master System stuff...I'd say go for those too.

If you shop at Gamestop/Gamecrazy for a NES, it should cost more than 10 dollars. I think they generally go for around 40 now. You could probably find a better deal somewhere else, but I dont have anything around here for getting games cheaper. Unless things are different outside of CA, I would say to be prepared to spend more than 10(but i could be wrong)

A good NES with pad and even a gun at Goodwill should only be $16.99 or so.

Xskaterjake: Hit up friends / family / people you went to school with.
The bulk of my collection came from people like that who had old systems kicking around their attic and were more than egaer to part with them for next to nothing.
