Default is this arcade game worth the price.

    going by this:
    http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?...M&game_id=8630

I take it its jamma and can be changed with some other jamma games? I know nothing about this, but it seems cheap enough and 4 miles from me, so hey wtf. I don't care about side art because of the small apce that it's going into, you wouldn't see any side art. I just want a box really and this winter possibly change it to something else.

    worth the price and time?

I'd say yes. A JAMMA cab with a nice 25" monitor is worth $200. If you're not crazy about the game I wouldn't bid much more. Then it's just a matter of buying whatever other JAMMA board you want and switching out the wires (15 minute job with mounting the board). You could always mount two boards in there and switch the wires back and forth, or just buy whatever game you want and sell the other mobo.

Things like control panels and the like are easy to fix. Actually, there's not much on a game that's hard to fix.

It's not bad, but I'd pass on that one unless you have a particular fondness for Martial Champion.

The control panel button configuration is something to keep in mind if you're planning to swap out other JAMMA boards. If you wanted to swap it with a game like MKII, you'd need more buttons, so you could either drill out the existing panel, build a new one, etc. On the other hand, if you're planning to stick with 3-or-fewer button, horizontal games, you're all set.

    What Mr. Antics said.

Go to an auction, if there's one in your area. You can get a JAMMA cab cheaper than that.

thats the thing, i don't know of any close auction. this is easy and if i'm just gonna save 25-50 bucks, it's not worth it to me(time wise to get someone to help me move it, and driving to chicago needing a truck) This seems close and simple. I just want something simple in it, like galaga or terra cresta 1 or 2 or something in the shooting range.

eh i'll throw a 200 bid on it then at the last min, if i get it, i get it. If not will live to see another day!

A but high for a low demand game like that. I'd say it's worth $150-200 on the high end, and $75-100 on the low. It's in nice shape from the look of it though, especially if you're gonna gut it. NEVER overpay for arcade cabs, they can always be had cheaper, and usually locally!

Lack of buttons, and abnormal control panel.
Those cause a problem if you're going to be swapping games.

I JUST went through all of this and let me tell ya...

Local - you don't want the thing shipped

Buttons - good layout, and 6 on each side, or at least places to PUT MORE to equal six on each side.

Monitor - 25" is great, make sure there are no dead spots. This is by far the most expensive part, obviously, so should be your #1 priority

Control Panel - Along with buttons, make sure it's big enough for EVERYTHING you want on it. Personally, I want all fighting games in my jamma cabinet, so theres NEEDED to be space for 2 controls, elbow room, and 6 buttons on each side. That cabinet looks like it might be a metal control panel (didn't get a good look) Personally, for me, Metal=bad.

Figure on spending another $50 to replace all joysticks/buttons/lights/touch up

For what i want 1 or 2 buttons are alright i think. I think of this as a starter to figuring out with i'm doing. when i figure that out, i can look for something more. Are adding buttons a problem? i mean i run a metal and wood shop, unless there is some interface device.

I'm really kinda talking out of my ass and not understanding too much until get my hands on it.

I was offered to take a look at it before i pay. and even the hilbilly offered me 250 for it after showing him a picture, and i don't know if he thought i was selling it or what, he's bonkers.

Adding buttons is no problem. Drill a hole, plop the thing in, and wire it to your JAMMA harness.

As for cost though, I've seen cabs around these parts go for $50-$100. I understand if you don't have an auction close, but trust me, getting the right cab is something worth waiting for.

You want a good starter project? Build a Supergun. It'll be about the same money as you're talking here (a little less if you're a good shopper), you'll learn EVERYTHING about the ins and outs of how a cab works and JAMMA and all that, and when you're ready to upgrade to a full cab, you can probably find a buyer for your 'gun and get back what you put in it.

    Just my 2 cents.

But neither one of those games is a JAMMA game. JAMMA started around '85 or so (I think) so anything earlier will need a JAMMA adapter for the specific pinout of the board, e.g., Galaga. Just something to keep in mind when considering all of the costs involved.

If your able to look inside before shipping it, just check and make sure everything is secure. If its not, try to secure it as best you can. If the cabinet doesnt have keys or you're unable to look inside I wouldnt recommend laying it down. It only takes one loose item to screw something up pretty good.
