    Default Favorite Tennis Games

What are some of your favorite tennis video games toplay?

Virtua Tennis is mine. First tennis game I've ever played, outside of NES Tennis and Activision's Tennis, that I really enjoyed and kept playing for longer then one game.

SNES Super Tennis is excellent, one of the best out there. I also like Activision 2600 Tennis, and my favorite is Jennifer Capriati Tennis for the Genesis, published by Renovation. 3D tennis just doesn't do it for me.

Back then Jennifer Capriati used to be my favorite tennis... err nevermind. I'll vote for Virtua Tennis and VT 2 along with Mario Tennis 64 and Love Smash Tennis.

The two Virtua Tennis are incredible. I never liked Tennis games, they didn't offer enough gameplay for me; Virtua Tennis, however, is incredible when it comes to gameplay. A simple two button control allows many different shots, and therefore smooth, intuitive, and deep gameplay.

I beat this game to death, and the last game against King in simulation mode is fantastic. It took me two evenings to defeat this guy, great game experience.

BTW, how does Top Spin compare to Virtua Tennis? is it as good as Virtua Tennis?? (I intend to buy it when it's cheaper.)

I usually don't buy sports games, but I did buy Virtua Tennis on DC for $5 at Walmart. I didn't think I'd like it, but I LOVED it in the end. I've also enjoyed Mario's Tennis (VB) and Mario Tennis (GBC).
    Egbert, I miss you...

IMO, Top Spin blows away Virtua Tennis. Top Spin looks and plays exactly like VT but is MUCH more deeper in game play. For instance, you can hit top spin, slice, and drop shots in TS. You also have the option of hitting "risk shots" which are very hard to pull off but are usually winners when you do. You can also customize your player in serve, volley, forehand and backhand skills, as well as add a slew of specialty shots to his/her arsenal. And of course TS is Live compatible, which is where the real fun of the game is.

I bought "Tennis" for Gameboy at Toys 'R' Us for $5.00 on clearance a few years ago and it's gotten more play than all of my other GB games combined, excluding Tetris.

Mario's Tennis for Virtual Boy has, by itself, justified my VB's purchase.

Wow, for a sport most of us never watch, tennis games get alot of action. I've started playing with VT's world tournament mode now, trying to get my cash up to buy a partner for the first doubles tournaments. Any advice on making shots or doing the practice game slike Pin Bowling or Bullseye?

I've played quite some Virtua Tennis games in the arcade. Now I'm planning to get it for DC.

I also like NES Tennis a lot.
Furthermore I've fond memories of the Tennis game on the 32-in-1 cartridge for Atari 2600.
