Just a possibly dumb question with Crazy Taxi- any tips or advice on doing the crazy manuevers?

Practice the timing.
Crazy Dash - Mash the gas pedal just slightly after throwing it into drive, not simultaneously. For the basic maneuver, you'll need to be stopped, or damned close to it.
Limiter Cut - This one took me a while to figure out. First, release the gas pedal, then throw it into reverse. The timing is just like for a Crazy Dash. Wait for a very short pause, then do the normal Crazy Dash maneuver to go flying. When performing this liberally, I've been able to go for more than an hour in the arcade.
Reverse Crazy Dash - Easy. Do a Crazy Dash, then immediately throw it into Reverse.
Crazy Drift - This is pretty straight forward. Hit the brake, then shift into Reverse, back to drive, and then you can yank the wheel. Be careful, though; if you do this for pole stopping, give yourself room. You risk bouncing cleanly off the object you hit if you don't slide just long enough for the tip coins to start appearing.
How you know you did them right?
I used control type B actually.

For the Crazy Dash, you'll know, because you will start moving at almost full speed. The Limiter Cut will be obvious because the engine will rev up like crazy when you do it, and there will be a very noticeable increase in speed. That's the hardest maneuver to time, so don't get discouraged if it takes a while. I'm still not 100% at it.
Work on your timing and accuracy so you can pull a crazy drift in the drop off point while pinned against something.
You can hold these for quite sometime and your tip bonus will skyrocket.
IŽd like to thank everybody for those tips too. Crazy taxi has always been a hard game for me! i always run out of time..i will give it a try again!
Very true, though extended wall sticking can be a severe detriment to your remaining game time. If you do that, try it after a long run across the freeway (to the police station or baseball stadium) and make sure your combo count is at least 20 or so.Originally Posted by sisko
Thanks for the tips, too! I'm far from a great Crazy Taxi player (got the GCN version, BTW... anyone knows whether there are differences with the DC version?)
No one would believe me if I said that I got a "Crazy" rating once, would they? I honestly did, you know. I was B.D. Joe, and I used the rickshaw to accomplish my goal. I was very proud at my accomplishment.
Crazy Taxi was one of the main reasons why I wanted a Dreamcast. I haven't played it in so long... I could use Dave's tips for performing those techniques. I used to slam the Limiter Cut just about every chance I could get... those days are gone, I'd wager.
That's it! Next stop: The Junkyard. Population: You!

Highest rating I usually get is a C.
I so gotta learn these timings...

Yeah, eventually you'll start moving really naturally, and getting huge scores. Oh, if you're stopping, it seems to be more effective to throw it into reverse while mashing the brake. That makes it a little easier to hit your target. Slamming a phone booth while doing this will usually bring you to a dead stop within a couple of feet.
