    No, they don't come sealed.

I suppose just taking the sellers/retailers word for it. I suppose you can tell (or they are really good) by looking at how the baggy on the N64 game itself is (it comes like the US ones do inside) if it's still nice and smooth and doesn't look like it's been folded a second (or multiple) times or removed, I'd say it's a small sign.

I think only the CD-based media games come sealed from Japan.

AFAIK the games do not come sealed as in shrinkwrapped. However my past experience with SFC, GBA and one N64 games says that the box itself comes very neatly wrapped in a cellophane baggie that will show obvious signs of tamper if not delicatly handled. These are taped shut.

I don't know if Nintendo themselves put these on, or if its just the retailers I deal with though.

When I worked at a record store and we would get vinyl from outside the US, most often it wouldn't be shrinkwrapped. I've burned myself many a time on the shrinkwrapping machine in the store's basement

The reason I'm asking is because some people say they come sealed in shrinkwrap & others say they don't.
I have seen one in shrinkwrap for sale & know that some people online bought ones in shrinkwrap, but anyone could have put that on them.

Are you 100% sure they are not sealed, because then I'll stop looking for sealed ones?

    Thanks for the help.

Neither Wonderproject J2 and Sin & Punishment that I bought new were sealed, and I bought them from reputable sellers that usually deal in Japanese goods.

The import shop near me sells new N64 games and none of them are shrinkwrapped.

I have never seen a shrinkwrapped game (other than disc based).

    Just in those cellophane baggies.

Shirnkwrap machines are easy to get a hold of, so I would imagine some retailers would do it.

Why? Doesn't Japan have a big rate of theft?

All Famicom, SFC, Mega Drive, etc. come with NO shrink from Japan. Only CD media and TG16 huCards came with shrinkwrap on them. If someone claims to have a sealed Jp game in a box of any sort (i.e. Famicom for example), they've shrinkwrapped it themselves and are scamming for some reason.

Gamecube is the first system that Nintendo has shrinkwraped -- hey, it's good for the environment.

However, most shops will shrinkwrap (or plastic wrap) the games themselves, which is probably why Nintendo doesn't bother.

This is the same for comic books. In Japan, it's commonplace to walk into a bookstore, read for hours, then leave, without buying anything (you can do this a convenient store without having the [minority of choice] guy behind the counter yelling at you -- actually, they're not minorities here).

The Limited Edition of Cyberbots I bought for the Saturn had plastic wrap (not shrinkwrap) on it, and so did the jewel case inside the box. Actually, a bunch of demo DC games I got a while back have the same thing (Sengoku TURB, Jaleco's Carrier, etc.)
