Does anyone know of good places to find retro games in New York City? I've recently started collecting, but I've been doing much of my collecting through Ebay and I would love to find places that sell retro games.

I don't know about stores. But on Long Island there is a nice little video game museum called Marty Cosimos video game room. It is closed well it's cleaned up a bit. But its going to open up in like 2 weeks. Everyone is allowed to stop by on the weekends. There is some arcade machines there to.
PS- If you havn't noticed I am talking about my Video Game Room. If you are ever near the area though, feel free to stop by.
Somebody make me a "CGE 2k7 Attendee banner" so I don't have to use this lame text
When i lived in new york city i lived on B avenue in east village and there is a DAMN GOOD store on saint marks place. Its called MultiMedia 1.0 it has a LOT of video games when you first walk in there is a wall of sega genesis games to the left and a wall of super nintendo to the right. Towards the back is a bunch of sega saturn, NES, virtual boy, 3DO, Jaguar, famicom, famicom disk loader thing and a bunch of master system games so in short go to
Mutlimedia 1.0 on saint marks place in east village.

Yup, a little pricey, but nice selection.Originally Posted by Barbarianoutkast1

I think its on the corner of Elizabeth and Canal...J&L Games..
Right in Chinatown.
TONS of Imports...
TG16
Saturn
PSX
Neo-Geo
Rare stuff...
I'll be back in NYC in either April or July, then again Sept 12th for the San Gennaro in Little Italy.
I got my Metal Slug X JPN AES from J&L, great game in great condition.
Yeah, I've heard MM 1.0 has some STEEP prices. And for such a HUGE metropolis, I find it slightly traumatic that it's impossible to find retro games.

I was JUST at J+L and their Neo prices are absolutely insane. I went in looking for Fatal Fury Special and did not expect a close to $200 price tag. This is one instance where a retail store -should- follow eBay prices.Originally Posted by TonK

for what's it's worth Multimedia 1.0 is pricey but you find stuff that you didn't even know existed...like a Actionreplay/gb cart player for the ps1. Going there is like going to a freaking museum, I've found some sweet stuff there like a near mint Earthbound players guide with scratch and sniff cart still intact
as for JnL they've had periodic spurts of retro gaming goodness, I've seen them stock boxed nintendos, They're better known for their imports, as they have a pretty decent saturn selection. But their Neo Geo stuff yeah I don't expect it to move anytime soon...unless you're feeling mighty generous in the wallet.
here's my contribution to this thread, the flea markets of coney island has often wielded decent scores...but it's been a while since I've hit them up.
I know of places that sell some old GB carts/n64 stuff...but that's mine! MINE!
my recommendation is stick with eBay unless you have deep pockets
Where's Jessen lately? He used to be able to give you the virtual grand tour of all the best spots to go.
This is incrediblyt depressing. I work in NYC and I'm moving into the city within the next few months.
The fact there there is such a small selection of game shops (with reasonable prices I might add) is pretty lame. But I guess that NYC makes up for it with plenty of music stores, but really, I would trade it for game stores since a computer can access almost any kind of music I want.
I'll have to go check out MM1.0 at least once. Gotta find a good place for reasonably priced import Cube games.
You must not have been out in Coney Island in a while because the flea market vendors are HISTORY. The revitalization of Coney Island under our last mayor included getting rid of those eyesore. But you're right, they did have some good deals to be had. Oh, one of the dealers and her family moved their to Neptune Ave and opened a gaming store! Mostly new stuff and DVDs but you'll see some 16 bit stuff, too.Originally Posted by youruglyclone

SHHHHH! He's MY secret (and therefore, all the places he knows about )Originally Posted by punkoffgirl
There's a guy on Coney Island who has boxed master system games for like $5 (I think he was charging Jessen like $7 each though....) Other videogame related things, but you have to get in there and DIG.
Jamaca Plains fleamarkets, Flushing (Gamestops, Game Express's)
If you're willing to travel the subway and go to some slightly shady parts of town, you can locate lots of stuff at Gamestops, Game Express's, Salvation Army's and Goodwills. I've found great things at nearly all of them. Including a set of Lolo NES games within a week for under $25
I'll check it out next time I'm up there!Originally Posted by jaydubnb
