Default 2d Fighters Midwest Championships moved back to chicago!

Seriously. June 24-27 2004 at Nickel City.
    http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/thread52485.php

This year's lineup, as it currently stands (with entry fees):
    Puzzle Fighter $5
    SNK vs Capcom Chaos $5
    Vampire Savior $5
    KOF 2k3 $5
    Street Fighter Alpha 3 $5
    Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike $10
Hyper Street Fighter 2: Anniversary Edition $10
    Capcom vs SNK 2 $10
    Guilty Gear XX $10
    Marvel vs Capcom 2 $10
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo $10

I'm totally going this year. I would have last year, but it was in Nebraska, which meant only a 3rd of the people went, and no one from Michigan. This year though, expect guys like VDO, avx, Julian, TKK & more to come and prove why people should fear the mitten state

I would love to go there. But only to watch, not fight. My 2D skills are not up too par these days. Now if it was a 3D thing, I would love to show off my Tekken Skillzzzz

    No Samurai Shodown 5? WTF?

I'll most likely be there, dunno if I'll enter in anything, as I'm an average at best player in most games.

Sounds interesting, but I think I too would only go to watch. I can be pretty deadly in SFA3, but I haven't played in awhile, so I fear my skills might be waning a bit.

Now, if the lineup included Mortal Kombat II, I'd be there in a heartbeat.

I know they had minitournaments for MK2 and X-men vs Street Fighter 2 years ago. Who knows, maybe they'll get added in again.

I know I'm not good enough to actually win anything, but part of the fun of going is playing other people and learning new strats.

You can learn stuff from anyone, as long as they are better

As for the lack of SSV, I have no idea. It's possibly nickel city just plain doesn't have the game. I'd totally enter that, though.

I would love to go, but im way far away. I really want to go to one of those huge tourneys some day. Hopefully next year I'll go to EVO and play in the MvC2 and VF4 tourneys.

hmmmmmm......I should see if theres a way to get to Chicago, I always wanted to check one of these out and the enterance fees are great

On Edit: It appears there is one in Dunellen,NJ and Philly in March and End of Feb. too, I can do those easier (especially since I have family in Dunellen and have been to the "Break" a good many times over the years

Guess I should look over at shoryuken.com more often

I bet I'd get owned at that tourney faster than you could say "boo." It'd be nice to show up, though, since I'm in "the mitten state" (lower part :) as well.

But, SS5 is awful as a tournament game.

I am curious how they're gonna run Hyper SF2 (race to WW Guile).

SSV is a fine tourney game. The only thing thats bad about it is Yoshitora, and personally I don't think he's any worse then SS2's Ukyo. Enlightenment seems broken on paper, but you try building it up and landing it. It's harder then it seems, and a number of characters aren't even worth trying TO enlighten.

Hyper SF2 has been discussed before...basically either the WW characters will be banned, if the organizer feels like it. WW Guile has some bad matchups from the other SF's, now, too (ST's O. Sagat).

    I can bring SS5.

Although by that point, SS5 Special will be out.

I'm just not buying this SS5 special. Where are these people getting their info? Arcadia had it on their website...but then if I recall, they took it down. If it's true, then the only way they could make it better then the original SSV is to tone down Yoshitora and not break the game with the new characters.

Someone over at ng.com said they got the new Arcadia and it mentions the 3 bosses from SS5 now being playable, also said something about a MVS release in the spring.

Someone else said something about Amakusa and Zankuro being playable too, I'm not sure if anything about that is in Arcadia.

They might as well add Gen An, Seiger, Nicotine, and more SS64 characters too.

I guess we'll see. I certainly wouldn't call the 3 bosses balanced by any stretch of the imagination, but if they can get them to a workable degree, more power to em.

Best have Shiki in there. I mean, they made a sprite for her...why the hell not. SvC can do at least one good thing for us. I wouldn't mind a return of Nicotine or the dude with the pillar, those guys were pretty badass too.

I doubt we'll see Gen-an return. He was the single most unpopular character in SS w/ the Japanese.

    BTW, Cham Cham plzkthx
