How good of a DDR player are you?

I jumped another hurdle today...beat my first Maniac song (no, it wasn't Have You Never Been Mellow...that's hardly worth bragging about) it was Keep On Movin'. Followed several minutes later by Put Your Faith In Me. This calls for an impersonation of Special Ed: Yaaaaaaaaay! Maniac! Maniac! Yaaaaaaaay!

And...how good are you?

Home or arcade?

I beat those songs at home, but everyone is better in the arcade. Especially if you use soft pads at home. You'll have a hard time making the arcade machine's pads slide around with your feet! ^_^

Yashiro, I use a moded pad, with a board taped under it. Feels like the Arcade pad, sorta.

I don't like to brag about my DDR skills, because it..well..seems kinda nerdy to say "I am really really good at a dancing video game."

But..

I have successfully completed 3 Catastrophic songs - Hypnotic Crisis, Saints go Marching, Afronova.

I can do all songs up to 7 feet. I can do some 7 footers and some 8 footers. Only 3 catas. ;D

Hey, it's kinda nerdy to say "I am really really good at video games, period"....doesn't bother me though! ^_^

It seems like some catas are easier than most of the 8-footers. Step-wise, anyway. Some catas are more of an endurance test.

If you want to try some more catas, I've heard that Dynamite Rave and Dead End are pretty easy (easier than Afronova, anyway)

Just beat my first 7-footer today! ROCK ON! Let Them Move. I guess that's not much to brag about...it was pretty easy. Should've been a 6-footer. Those 1/16th notes are a BITCH the first time around though.

Man, I miss DDR. It's hard to schedule a trip to an expensive place like Gameworks any more when you don't have weekends off.

The only SSR/Maniac songs I've cleared (at least once, on my own):

I have yet to really try anything else on my own.

Oh, and has anyone else tried Dance With Intensity? I LOVE that program! I'm missing a bunch of dances, but it's alright, Paranoia Rebirth can keep me company.

I have 2 left feet, I suck at this game. I get all hot and sweaty and look stupid doing it.

All those kids who go to the arcade are amaziong, they hit every mark not even looking at the screen. what freaks.

@Lifebringeroftorv: Practice, practice, practice, that's the secret to DDR. I find that I usually suck when I start playing Konamix on the PSOne till I'm warmed up. Then, I can move much more easily and faster.

Jaye: I'm the opposite. I get gradually worse the more I play at one time. There are quite a few songs (Paranoia Max Dirty Mix, Drop Out) that I can only pass if I play them before anything else! ^_^

Come to www.ddronline.net You should post about ddr there. If you want to know my skills i can pretty much beat any ddr song. Just depends. Afronova... easy... Afronova Primevil even easier. Um.. Paranoia Rebirth.. Hm...Dead End... Name it i can probly do it. So if you wanna talk about ddr come to are board =) Oh... Just for info. Ive been playing for like 8 months.. Soo... Its getting kinda routine. Ive gotten to the point where single maniac isnt much fun anymore so im not Double Maniac. Oh and if you want to mod your pad. Please use those plastic things that have spikes in them that office chairs role on. Just tape a pad to one of those and your set. Its a very good mod. Other then that nothing is better then the arcade pad. Well i hope you guys will come and visit that board. Bye Bye and Keep on Dancing.
