    Default Official Game.com Thread

I want to start my first collecton where I attempt to collect every game complete in box as well as a complete system (possibly in box, depends ov version). Being only 16 years old and on a pretty tight budget as well as an avid game collector I am going to aim for the game.com.

I noticed on ebay that I can easily get the system complete for $10 and pick up each game for $2-$4 complete and sealed. I read about the games and I think I will enjoy games like resident evil 2, sonic jam, duke nukem 3d, and a few other games.

I was wondering if any of you currenly have any game.com merchaindise or have a complete collection (or working on one) and how easyily you achieved your complete collection.

Are there any hard to find games that I should keep an eye out for on ebay? thanks!

I have a Game.com, with 11 games. Got the whole lot on eBay.

If you're picky about boxes, you should know that while most Game.coms sold on eBay are packaged in those infernal plastic things, you can find some that come in actual cardboard boxes. They're hard to find though. I think I may have seen three on eBay in the past year or so. I did manage to get mine in a real box, though, so just keep looking if that's what you want.

As for what's rare, I really couldn't tell you. I bought my Game.com 'cuz I'm collecting every system. I don't know much about the games for it. Personally, I found that the system kind of sucks, so I'm not really concerned about learning more. However, I was told that the games Henry and Quiz Whiz that came in my lot were pretty good finds.

I hope some of this helps you, and good luck.
I only need 2 more NES games (US)!

First and foremost, the Game.com sucks ass.

I own Resident Evil 2 and Sonic Jam for the system, and they both suck ass. In fact, Sonic Jam is one of the worst games I have ever played in my life. It is an extremely easy system to collect for, but not a fun system to play. The only game that can be a little tricky to track down is Quiz Whiz Cyber Trivia.

I own a game.com and about 6-8 games with boxes. It was a good idea (the system, i mean), but implemented all wrong. they tried to do too much with the system. the system can't even handle side scrolling, because everything becomes one big blur when it does. there are some very fun games for it though, like lights out, and a few game show related ones and quiz wiz is pretty fun too. i was fortunate enough to buy my game.com from a retailer and got the box with it. if you want to make a complete game.com collection, try getting a game.com and a game.com pocket plus.

I have the whole Game.com library, including both cardboard system box variations and most of the accesories. I need only the modem and the link cable.

As for collecting, you can get the entire 20 game library with the system for about $60. most of the games are pretty shitty, but personally RE2 wasn't *that* bad, and the Jurassic Park one was okay. The only games that are actually fun to play are the Wheel of Fortunes, and Frogger. If you head over to GameFaqs.com, I did several guides for some of the games and the deck under "Dangerboy" username. Read the MK Trilogy glitches section to understand what you're getting into.

I checked out the walkthrough for RE2 on gamefaqs, and it looks like a pretty large and interesting game. I also think the duke nukem game looks good, also that game with the collection of vintage games (I cant remember exactly which games) but it looks interesting. I am sniping a lot on ebay currently and ill let you guys know later tonight how I make out.
What is the most I should pay for a sealed game.com (plastic, not box) with 8 brand new sealed games? Im guessing no more than $35?

I got a game.com and modem, and almost complete collection (5 games missing). I quite like the system, very mis-understood.

I hate to tell you, but that's a crappy excuse to get a Game.com. I can sympathize about being broke, but forget all this "complete collection" nonsense and collect for a GOOD system. Having a complete Game.com collection really won't impress anyone, and there really aren't any more than 4 or 5 good games anyways, so you won't even have any fun with it.

I bought a Game.com off of eBay as well, getting the standard system + 8 games for $30 or whatever. Frankly, aside from the game show games (Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy), built-in solitaire, Resident Evil 2, and Tiger Casino, everything else I got was just trash. The screen just smears everytime something moves fast (making Sonic Jam impossible to play), and for whatever reason, no game ever gets good, fluid animation (making Mortal Kombat Trilogy and Fighter's Megamix suck ass). They couldn't even get Midway Arcade Classics to work well.

If you really have your heart set on getting a complete collection for some system, you're better off looking into the Virtual Boy, the 32X, the Lynx, or the Jaguar. They're much better systems, and you'll actually enjoy them. Unfortunately, each of those systems has at least one or two games that are freakin' expensive... but that's collecting for you.

First of all its not an excuse, and you basicaly back my point up in your last paragraph because you are right, I dont want to spend $100 for a complete spiderman on 32x or that one shooter on jaguar that fethces a very high price when complete. I dont care if the games are crap, and nobody will "respect" the collection, I am doing this for myself and I plan on having FUN trying to aquire all the games.

That's a great attitude to have about collecting, PDorr3. I hate when people only collect to show off to others. "Oh, look at what I have! Doesn't that make me so cool?"

I'm not accusing anyone here of doing that, don't misunderstand me. In fact, I agree with Ze_ro about some of those other systems being better than Game.com. But you buy what you can, and as long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters.

I do have to say, though, that I wouldn't bother with a Game.com packaged in that plastic. I like having a real box. I won't buy a system without one.

Strarting collecting for game.com is setting the bar a bit low.
You said you wanted to have fun collecting, so go for a system with a huge library of games instead. It will make the collecting part last longer and it will be a bigger goal to work for.
I like the feeling everytime I ad something new to my collection, even if it's a dirt common game that i almost got for free.
Getting all games for Game.com wont have much of the collecting element at all, you can get all games within a few weeks, or months without any troubles what so ever, and you probably wont experience the grat feeling of finding something you have been looking for for years

That's just my view, maybe its good to start out easy to get the feel for it, but i like seting my goals high, and im always strapped for cash.

Well, then by all means, go right ahead. After all, the whole point of video games is to have fun, so if you enjoy it, then more power to you. I just meant to warn you, since I didn't find Game.com collecting to be very fun at all really.

I would agree with everyone that said even on a limited budget you should probably start collecting for another system. Unless you plan on never opening anything and just looking at it, I think that a system that you would play many games on would be a much better choice. Even if you collect for the Jaguar or 32X and don't want to spend the money on that one "big" game, you can still play the rest of your collection and be happy with it. I can't make the same recommendation about the Game.Com.

If you're wondering what's rare, I was at one point a Game.Com owner (sold it because my PalmPilot has wayyyyy better games ) and I sold them for a short while at the GOAT Store. The rarest games is probably Lights Out in it's original box. It was a pack-in with the original version of the system, but was released in a very limited edition run of boxed games too. The other games that I can think of offhand are Henry and Quiz Whiz. Neither of these games are truly rare and/or expensive though.

Hardware is a little tougher. I was told that the backlit version of the system is extremely rare, but I haven't looked through eBay lately to see if this still holds. At one time, there was thought to be less than 100 released as Tiger was test marketing them (which was passed on to a friend who collects for the Game.Com by Tiger themselves). I don't know if Tiger ever sold more.

The Internet cartridge, link cable and AC Adaptor are all pretty hard to find too. I ended up purchasing an Internet cartridge and AC adaptor not too long ago because I couldn't believe I found them still new in box. I've realized that I have no clue what I'm going to do with them. If anyone's interested, I'll sell them for $13.00 shipped priority... I paid $11.00 for them

Overall, to sum up the system I wouldn't start collecting on it. I collect systems because I like to play them. I currently have what I believe to be the most extensive Jaguar collection out there (I have every game, box and label variation!) and I have a complete US Dreamcast collection. I collected for these two systems because the more games that I got, the more I enjoyed the system and it just ended up that I got every game for it. If you're truly interested in the Game.Com for playing, as well as collecting, I would suggest you get the console and the few games you really want and see how you like it. If you don't much care for it, spend the money on another system that you really like

The game.com does suck BIG ASS! When it first came out years ago, I went ahead and bought one and a few games for it (The only reason I bought it was because I already had all the systems out at the time, all the good games, and was looking to take a chance on this product). I too though Duke Nukem, Mortal Kombat, Sonic, and Resident evil just to name a few. They all completely sucked, I had the most fun playing solitarie.

But, if you like the system, defiantely buy it! Alot of people don't get why anyday I would rather play a Mario Brothers game, then to play Vice City or something with killing and guns. If you like it, play it. But, in my opinion, the game.com does suck a big dick.

Such hatred for such a small system! Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.
Game.com isn't so bad if you mostly stick to the board and puzzle games: Quiz Whiz, Monopoly, Wheel of Fortune, etc.. The system does not do most fast paces/3-D games very well, but does have a respectable version of Frogger.

The game.com does suck. If you want to start a good collection go with the NeoGeo Pocket that thing has some very good games on it.

I bought one of these at launch, and liekd it back then. Its nothing special as a system though. I can thank Jon Hardie for just about half of my Game.Com collection.

Check your local KB Toys, and Toys R us. Mine still have some boxed games lying behind the counter. Check discount bins and what not.

For anybody who actually owns a Game.Com Pocket Pro: Does anybody else have a bunch of lines across the screen when they turn it on?

Just a warning to those considering buying it...

The system does not do most fast paces/3-D games very well, but does have a respectable version of Frogger.
A shame it and Centipede are a bit buggy...
