    Default NES Care Advice

Any advice on how to prolong the life of an NES if you're going to be using it?

The best way to prolong the life of an NES is to take care of the NES games and the NES contacts inside the system.

To take care of games, clean them. I would get a bit to take apart the games, if you don't already have them, and clean the contacts very well. An eraser, isopropyl alcohol, and some q-tips work the best.

To take care of the NES contacts, I would suggest getting a cleaning cart and using that every once and a while, but the most important thing is don't leave any games inside the system. This will bend the contacts so they don't make contact with the game.

Search through the Restoration forum as there have been some topics already discussed on keeping things clean:

I really should be cleaning my games but I'm too lazy.
