I've seen them go anywhere from $100 to $200 depending on the condition of the cart (there is no box so the cart condition in this case is particularly important). Right now we've got it listed at $175 mint in our database.

If you really want to improve the value of the cart, find the jacket!

The craziest part is, is that the jacket can go upwards of a hundred bucks. I've seen it go higher than the cart itself.
Typically on ebay it hits $200 or so, give or take.

If I'm not mistaken, there would have been less jackets (winners) than carts, which were later offered through Nintendo Power magazine.

Can anyone confirm this? I did not experience this first-hand.

I think you're correct on this one Joe. I remember reading somewhere, probably Nintendo Power, that they had an extremely limited quantity of StarFox Jackets.

are you sure that this cart has no box? i know that the donkey kong competition cart has one, so i would think that this would have one too from when nintendo sold them in the catalog.

I know this is an odd question and all, but could someone tell me if the top label of the Starfox and Donkey Kong Country Competition carts are any different than the normal releases?

It'd make it ALOT easier for me in my trips to the pawn shops and game stores. I wouldn't have to endure the odd looks given when asking the employees to bring (sometimes) 3-4 copies of Starfox or Donkey Kong Country out from behind the counter.

Starfox Jackets were available to the winning contestant at each participating blockbuster location as the grand prize for the contest

Starfox Weekend cart did not have a box it came in a clear plastic case (the standard snes official snap case), but did come with a lapel pin and a small paper insert

Donkey Kong only has a cart and a green box with an information sleeve (like a genny game)

I think the top label is different on the starfox cart, the DK cart is the same on the top, I will have to verify when I get home

I believe Goodwill Hunter had a thread about the DKC Comp cart he found. He provided scans and all. The top is an orangish/goldenrod color with black lettering (says what nesman85 mentioned above)

The top of the Starfox Weekend cart is no different to the regular cart, both just say "Starfox". Hence you've got to crapshoot through all of them just in case you get lucky! :P

    http://snescentral.edgeemu.com/rarit...end/index.html

This gives an accurate history of the event, the cartridge, and has pics of the paper insert, pin and t-shirt, as well as the cart.

The only thing that it doesn't show is the paper model of the spaceship that was also included when you got the bundle from Nintendo Power.

    http://snescentral.edgeemu.com/rarit...omp/index.html

Not as much information, but has a pic of the cart, as well as the catalogue page from Nintendo Power - where you could order the game at one time!

What it doesn't show is the kelly green snap case that the cart came in if you purchased it from Nintendo Power. There was a full color insert (tan background) that came with the case - describing the game, etc. VERY, VERY hard to find!

Interesting enough, the last link on the page has a pic of the brochure for the two consoles (SNES & Genesis) for the Blockbuster World Video Game Championship II. The Donkey Kong Country Competition Edition cart was used for the SNES, and the 2-in-1 NBA Jam/Judge Dredd (who paired those two games up?) cart was used for the Sega Genny.

Great topic - lots of fun! The games are great to play as well.

I actually still have the certificate from taking part in the competition somewhere at home. Even though I'd had the game for 6 months before it happened (and the UK version had only just come out), I wasn't near the winners. Guess they must have sussed out more of the higher scoring routes than I did. I came fairly high up I believe...
