    Default Perfect Dark-N64

I just picked up a used copy of Perfect Dark for my newly aquired N64. I have read it is arguably the best game for the system. They told me (at the store) that I need to buy the expansion pack to play this game. They said without the expansion pack, you can only play like 35% of the game--is this true, or were they just trying to get me to buy the expansion pack? I wanted to run it by you all before I buy one of those expansion pack things. Thanks!

True. Gives you a hi-res mode as well.

If you got the box or manual with the game, it should tell you what you can/can't play without the expansion pak... in case you didn't get the box or manual, here's what my copy says:
    • Multiplayer Challenges - With or Without Exp. Pak
    • 1 Player (Solo Missions) - Only with Exp. Pak
    • 1-2P Multiplayer (Combat Simulator) - With or Without Exp. Pak
    • 1-4P Multiplayer (Combat Simulator) - Only with Exp. Pak
    • 1-2P Cooperative - Only with Exp. Pak
    • 2P Counter-Operative - Only with Exp. Pak
    • Up to Eight Simulants - With or without Exp. Pak

So yeah, there's a LOT of stuff you won't see in the game unless you have an expansion pak... Basically, all you get are the deathmatch modes, and only 1-2P at that.

Thanks Ze_ro! The game didn't come with a case or manual--so I guess I need to find one of those expansion packs for a halfway decent price. The store had one for $20, but I thought I could find one cheaper from someone here, or Ebay. We'll see....

Ewww-- I HATE EB games!! They are bastards, but do the N64's come with expansion packs for $15, or are they separate $15 each? I ask because I bought my N64 from them (which is why I am bitter towards them....long story...)

Check the system before you buy one. A lot of people just threw away their Jumper Packs when they upgraded, so the store I worked out bought and sold the systems with the Expansion Pack for the same price.
