Has anyone been able to do this? I've got the files, but I'm not sure what to do with them... Is there any way I can play the game on my PC using the demo version of MagicEngine?
Thanks

You've got to burn a disc.. Magic Engine won't run ISOs. However, I have had some luck getting Hu-Go! to run ISOs, if you'd be interested in trying that instead. You can get that emulator from Zophar's Domain (www.zophar.net).

Thanks, but as for burning the disc, what do I have to do with the 22 files (20 mp3, 2 ISO) before I burn the disc?
As you can see, I'm really new to this...
This isn't totally true. You can use Daemon Tools to mount a TG16 ISO image and then run it in Magic Engine without having to burn it at all:Originally Posted by ManekiNeko

Just edit the PCE.INI to have it point to the virtual CD-Rom drive Daemon Tools creates. Works great.
The easiest way I have found to do this is to use CDRCue:Originally Posted by Sofa King Gud

Create a cuesheet adding the ISO and then the audio mp3 tracks IN ORDER, then run the cuesheet in a burning program that handles cue files (most all do) and burn.
Unfortunately, in the Evaluation Version you can only make a cuesheet with maximum 10 files, therefore I can't make a cuesheet, since I have 22 files.Originally Posted by zektor
You may be able to use Sega Cue File Maker instead...

It's free, which is always a plus. Can't guarantee that it'll work for a TurboDuo game, however.

If you want, once you know the layout, you can make a cuesheet in notepad. Once I have one that works, find/replace will work wonders making it useful for other CDs.
this site covers it pretty well
http://www.pcengine.it/Dracula/draculax_eng.htm
Yeah, that's actually the site where I downloaded the files...
I'm trying the second option, and I need to fuse together nearly 20 files with a Wave Editor... Do any of you know of a good one off hand?
All right, here's what I did to get the game running. It was a real pain but ultimately it was worth the effort.
1. Download CD-EX from this site:
http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/
This piece of software will allow you to convert MP3s into WAV files and back. It's really handy to have around, even if you don't have a CD burner... you can always take all your old WAV files and convert them to MP3s to conserve hard drive space.
2. Download all the files on this site:
http://www.pcengine.it/Dracula/draculax_eng.htm
Be sure to get all the ZIP files and CLASS files... you'll need every one. There's also a CUE file at the bottom of the page in ZIP format... don't forget this! You'll need it later.
3. Unzip all ZIPped files.
This is as easy as pie if you've got a compression utility, and I'd hope that you'd have one by now. If not, download and install ZIP Central on your computer right away!
4. Convert all CLASS files into MP3 files.
You'll need to open the Command Prompt to do this properly. Click the Start button on the bottom of your screen, go to Programs, then Accessories, then Command Prompt (or MS-DOS Prompt).
You'll need to move to the directory the files are in... to do this, type CD, then a backslash, then the appropriate directory. For instance, if they were in C:\WINDOWS\DRACULA, type CD\WINDOWS\DRACULA.
When you're in the right directory, type in this command:
RENAME *.CLASS *.MP3
The files should all be renamed. You're finished with MS-DOS, so close out of the Command Prompt and move on to the next step.
5. Convert all MP3 files to WAV files.
Run CD-EX, the program you downloaded earlier. At the top of the window, select Convert, then Convert Compressed Audio Files into WAV Files. You'll enter a new window. You'll need to find the correct directory... to do this, press the button with the ellipse (...) in it, or just type out the directory manually. After this, press the Select All button to select all MP3s in the directory. Check the Delete Original box. Then click the Convert button. Sit back a while, because it will take a few minutes for the files to convert to WAVs.
6. Move the WAV files into the Dracula X directory.
There should be a folder in the CD-EX directory called "My Music". This is where your WAV files will be. Select all the files in this folder (go to Edit, then Select All), then use the Cut command (go to Edit, then Cut). Open the folder where the Dracula X files are and past the WAV files into it (go to Edit, then Paste).
7. Rename the Dracula X WAV files.
You're going to need to change the names of the Dracula X WAV files. Right click each one and choose Rename, then type in TRACKn, with 'n' being the number of the current WAV file. Continue until all WAV files have been appropriately renamed. You should be left with TRACK1, TRACK2, TRACK3, and so on.
8. Click the CUE file to begin burning the disc.
Remember the CUE file I told you to download? I told you that you were going to need it! Double click this file and you should begin burning your Dracula X disc. If not, you're going to need to download and install a CD burning utility like Nero: Burning ROM first.
If you HAVE a CD burning utility and merely clicking the CUE file won't work, run the utility, then open the CUE file from it. After that, use the utility as you normally would (in Nero, choose the option Disc-At-Once, then the speed you wish to write the CD, then click the Write button).
9. Get ready to rumble with the Count and his goons.
I assume you've already got Magic Engine and the CD system files necessary to run CD games. If so, just pop in the Dracula X CD, then run Magic Engine. Select the option Boot CD, then choose CD System 3.0. The game should begin automatically.
This is as much help as I can offer. If you've tried all this and you STILL can't get the game to run, you'd probably be better off ordering the game from an online disc burner.

Unfortunately, my Nero Burning Rom demo has expired... Does anyone know a way around the expiration?
Once I know this, I'll be on my way!
Thanks for the extremely well detailed explanation, I don't know if there'll ever be a way to repay you guys! </drama>
I can feel that I'm almost there!

Also, you could get Daemon Tools and Burn-At-Once... that's freeware, without any restrictions on its use. Ask NE146 where you can find it (or just use a Google search to get it).

gah doing it ManekiNeko's way gives me a cd that the drives wont recognize o.O
Hey, it worked fine for me. The computer recognizes my disc as an Audio CD, but when you run Magic Engine and select Boot CD, the game DOES run.

Since the first track is audio, shouldn't real TG16 CDs also look like an audio CD to a PC?
It does that on my Mac o.oOriginally Posted by ddockery

ManekiNeko-
what burning app did you use?
I used Nero: Burning ROM. The only advice I can give you is to burn the disc SLOWLY. I burned mine at 4x and the only problem I've had with the disc is that you can't hear the dialogue between Richter and Maria in the intermission screens.
This is ALL the help I can offer you. If you're still having problems, PM me and I'll give you the site address of a reputable game disc burner.
