Default So-Cal collectors: a video game yard sale in Glendora

Ben Valdez, from the SC3 days, is being forced to sell off his collection. I'm forwarding his Atari Age post here to maybe help him get more buyers.

Ultimate Video Game Yard Sale - this weekend only!!

It saddens me beyond words to part with my videogame collection, so I will not try. I have to sell, sell, sell as fast as I can, because if I am unable to raise $2,500 by the end of this month I'll have no place to put my collection anyway. My situation creates an incredible buying opportunity for anyone even remotely within driving distance of Pitfall Harry's Lost Videogame Cavern, located at:

    739 E. Juanita Ave,
    Glendora, CA 91740

If you want to pick up some common, hard to find, or rare classic videogames at great prices, I urge you to make a road trip out to my place this weekend.

Yard Sale will be held on March 20 and 21:

    Saturday:10a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
    Sunday: 11:a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

...or until the target $2,500 has been raised, whichever comes first.

There are far too many items and too little time for me to itemize the collection, but here are some of the highlights:

    Atari 2600
    over 400 different titles
    many duplicates
    label variations
    over 100 different boxed games
Eli's Ladder, Stronghold, Off Your Rocker, Rescue Terra I, Quadrun, Swordquest Waterworld to name only a few of the rares.
Heavy sixer in Atari brand suitcase

    Atari 5200
    2 and 4-port consoles
    over 50 titles
    boxed games
    Masterplay interface
    Wico 5200 controllers

    Atari 8-bit home computers
    over 100 cartridge titles
    many different model consoles

    Atari Jaguar
    A dozen or so titles
    Boxed Jaguar CD unit

    Commodore 64
    over 100 cartridge titles

    NES
    over 400 different titles

    Nearly complete collection, all boxed

    Odyssey2
    consoles
    40+ games, many boxed
    Boxed Power Lords

    Pong Units & clones
    Atari Video Pinball (boxed)
    Atari Pong Doubles(boxed)
    Atari Super Pong
x3 Odyssey original 1972 consoles, boxed
    various pre-Odyssey 2 pong units

    Miscellaneous
    Sega Saturn console & games
Sega Master systems, 3D glasses, games
    SNES
    Turbo Graf-X consoles & games
    Genesis consoles & games
    Nintendo Game & Watches
    Video game board games
    Commodore VIC-20 computer cartridges
    Boxed TI//99 computer & cartridges

    Weird stuff
RCA Studio II consoles & cartridges
    Fairchild Channel F & games
    Tomy Tutor & cartridges
    IBM PC Jr. & cartridges
    Famicom & cartridges & diskettes
    Astrocade & cartridges
    Comodore PET computers
    Commodore-16 computer & cartridges
    Apple Lisa computer
    KIM-I single board computer
Chalk Board PowerPad digital tablets, boxed

...and many other items I can't recall at the moment. Everything is up for grabs! If you don't see it, ask. You may be pleasantly surprised. Come early, come often. There will be no bidding. No reasonable offer will be refused, and in many cases I will consider unreasonable offers as well. Sorry about the short notice, but this weekend is your only chance to get these items before, if necessary, I have to put them on eBay on Monday.

Everyone who makes it out here this weekend will be entered into a free raffle; I'll be giving away your choice of an Atari 2600, 5200, 7800 or Atari 8bit home computer. Now is your chance to get your Atari system for free.
    Lick me! LICK ME!!

Poor guy. Wonder what happened. I'd help him out, but I'm stuck here in Wisconsin.

    Default What a bummer.

I truly feel sad for the guy. My collection is pitiful next to his and I would be upset if I lost mine. It is about 20 miles from my house though. I'll try to swing by.

Aww, man... that sucks. Ben's a heckuva nice guy. A few years ago, I posted to rgvc that I wanted to try SMS Phantasy Star but could never find a copy. So he sent me an extra PS cart he had for free. I hate to hear he's having money trouble.

His place is about 45 minutes from me. Maybe I can make it up there.

I doubt I'll be able to go and help him to raise that money (hell I could use a new Vectrex...), but if there's any inkling that I can make it, I'd be both sad and glad to help out the guy. But six and a half hour drive... that's a day trip.

That truly sucks big. But if I had to sell my gaming stuff, I guess it'd be good to know I'd be helping someone else out on their collection.

I'd drop by too.... if I didn't live in Nor-Cal.
And don't bring up that stupid girlie Aladdin rip off! Shantea?

This year has been really rough on VG collectors everywhere! I'm sorry to see yet another collector having to part with their goods..
I'd love to pick up that Odyssey2 stuff, especially the Power Lords, but its a bit far to drive (Phoenix to Cali). Best of luck to Ben and those who go by to pick up some stuff!

Default This sale is still going on

I just want to drop a note that I just got back from this sale. Ben (Pitfallharry) has a collection to envy. The good news is that he is very close to his goal. To So Cal Collectors you should stop by. I got to the sale at 9:30 and I was the last to leave at 4:00. His collection is so large it took up a whole two car garage. Without a DOUBT these were the best deals of my life. Some things I saw sold there were two Vectrex Systems (working) $30,
Ninetendo Atari 2600 Converter $5, RCA STUDIO II with TV ADAPTOR $15, Odyssey Boxed $15, Tele Games System $5, Tommy Tutor $10. Most games on DP's R1-R4 list were usually $1-$2. R5-R8 $3-$6, and R9+ (and there were tons) were individualy priced but were ALWAYS below DP pricing guidlines. His Atari, Sega, and Ninetendo Collection has great depth and scope and there were a ton of oddities like boardgames, stuffed animals, and things that I have only seen at CGE's Museum. My mind is still swimming with what I saw. The man still has TONS of quality titles and hardware. His collection in my opinion sold complete on the street would be worth 10,000 plus at current going rates. He had about 20 customers today and they only scratched the surface. Everything is in unmarked boxes so I know there are treasures to still be found. Anyway the trip was WELL worth an hour drive and I will be posting my finds after I unload a completly full Plymouth Minivan.
Aha! Now we see the violence inherent in the system!

    Hi all,

I also went today and showed up early at 9:30, after driving about an hour from West Los Angeles. Well worth the trip! I really wanted a Vectrex system and was a little nervous when I didn't see any. Ben had presold two, but thankfully there was one left for me a $70. It was a little dusty but Ben let us take it for a test run and it worked flawlessly.

I picked up the Vectrex for $70. Scramble with overlay for $7. A vectorman cartridge and Zaxxon 32X cartridge for $2 each and a Famicom clone (looks almost like the real thing) for ten bucks and Contra famicom cartridge.

I'm not a 2600 collector but I saw Halloween, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Crazy Climber still available when I left a few hours later.

Thanks again Ben and best of luck....I"m still debating whether I should go out again tomorrow.

Yeah after spending near $225 there I had to promise the wife I would lay off Ebay for 3 months, Visit My Mother in Law next weekend, and clean our swamp infested pool tomorow. Secretly I'm checking the totals on my credit cards tonight to see if I can go back tomorow to pick up some of the things I left behind.
