    Default Lucasfilm / Lucasarts Games

One of the best, and most consistent gaming companies for vintage computers. Ranging from the early days of the Eidolon, to the wonders of SCUMM. What are your favorites? Here are some of mine:

The Eidolon (Atari 8bit / C64): Imaginative, and amazing 3-d visuals at the time. A great game.

Night Shift (PC, ST, Amiga): Assemble Lucas action figures such as Darth Vader and Indiana Jones in the Industrial Might and Logic factory. This is an action game, but alot of fun.

Monkey Island 1 & 2 (PC, ST, Amiga): Hilarious, great visuals, and amazing music. What more could you ask for?

    What are some others?

I still get a warm cozy feeling about Maniac Mansion... man was that game ever great. Day of the Tentacle was another excellent one in my opinion, as was Monkey Island 2 (I'm probably the only one who preferred the second one over the first).

I always thought Rescue on Fractalus looked like crazy fun, but I could never figure out what I'm doing in it. One of these days I'm sure I'll add it to the list though. Ballblazer is another nifty looking game, but I hardly ever get the chance to play old 2-player games (since anytime I get the chance, people would rather play Mario Kart Double Dash or something new). Are there any ports of Ballblazer that have a computer AI to play against?

The Atari 7800 and 8-bit versions of Ballblazer both allow you to play against a computer droid, with up to nine skill settings.

As for Monkey Island, I don't necessarily disagree that 2 was the best. I have to go through them all again to refresh my memory.. where's my DC?

If you ever give Rescue on Fractalus a chance, try a mid-level difficulty setting for maximum enjoyment. The early levels are too boring, and I can't last ten seconds on the higher ones.

Try Outlaws. Its still a fun FPS and has a cool mini story with the usual Lucas cinema effects. Not too many western themed FPS games were made and this is the best by far (actually maybe the only one since I don't remember any other Western themed FPS titles). Even if you don't usually play the FPS genre its worth a look.

Even though the graphics on the C64 version of Maniac Mansion were the best, the NES version had some awesome music. Dave's theme really rocked; I caught myself humming it today.

Yeah but the NES version of Maniac Mansion was butchered to satisfy NOA, get the PC version. DOOT was hilarious. Gotta love the lucasarts archive editions, got all 4 of em and wouldn't trade em for the world. Its when they used to make good games. JEdi Knight, and KOTOR are the only decent ones they have made lately

Oh, pretty much... all of them.

Though, somehow I missed Maniac Mansion and DOOT. Have to find them some day.

My favorite recent game was Grim Fandango. SO! MUCH! FUN!

Oh yes, Grim Fandango was a superior quality game.

I managed to obtain The Lucasarts Archive Vol. 1 (Sam & Max, DOTT, Indy & The Fate of Atlantis, various demos) in a shrewd trade a while back. Full Throttle I bought for a pittance on eBay, and I even managed to find the white box Monkey Island trilogy in Staples a while back.

And I have yet to play any of these. D'oh!

Grim Fandango needs to be played by everyone on the face of the planet.

I absolutly loved Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. Played that game to death. And I'm not 100% sure it's lucasarts, but let me add Companions of Xanth to the list if it is.

I loved these type of PC games. These and text adventures are the only computer games I really ever played.

No, Companions of Xanth was a Legend Entertainment game (Gateway, Spellcaster, Superhero League of Hoboken, etc).

Anyone play some of the newer freeware stuff, like Ozzie and the Quantum Playwright or 5 Days a Stranger?
