Default More GCN Player's Choice titles on the way

I saw this at IGN Cube the other day and found it interesting, so I thought I'd share:

Starting April 29th the following titles will join the Player's Choice program, and thus get a price drop:

    $29.99:

    Wario World
    Mario Golf

    $19.99:

    F-Zero GX
    Metroid Prime

Some solid titles to be had there, and for considerably less dough. Looks like I'll finally be picking up F-Zero and Mario Golf!

Mario Golf and Metriod are the only ones worth buying IMO. F-Zero is too hard and Wario...sucks.

    Just my opinion though

Someone tell fucking Nintendo that rereleased popular titles are SUPPOSED TO BE $20. NOT $30.

    Stupid. Stupid. Stupid Nintendo.

    STUPID.

YES! I was thinking exactly the same thing. Xbox Platinum Series games are all $20. PS2 Greatest Hits titles are $20 (allot are even $15). But the majority of Nintendos Players Choice titles are $30.

What is Nintendos problem with price drops on their games anyway? Even when the 64 was out, I remember it being impossible to go to the store and find *good* new n64 games for under $30-$40.

It's probably related to the fact that they're rereleasing Famicom games for GBA in Japan. With one game per cartridge. At about 3,000 Yen each. Nintendo's just greedy.

And this might give me an excuse to buy Mario Golf. I already got F-Zero at that price, thanks to a weird markdown at Kay Bee. Heh.

What has Nintendo not done yet? I don't get their strategy.....A system for $99 and then 2 Nintendo Titles will cost you the same price. Sega has jumped on this boat too selling their titles for $49.99 and then dropping shortly there after but Sonic Mega Coll. is still at $39.99 which isn't too bad. Anyways, Why not do the smart thing...make your money on the console and make games affordable. Most people really don't care how much they spend on a system as it's something concrete...it's the backbone but games....you don't know if you're going to absolutely love them like the demo or learn to hate them or something like that. Nintendo needs to release demo discs for $4.99...DUH! and if they sold their system for $149 and sold games for $20 and $40, they would be smart. $40 is acceptable but $50 is just plain crazy. Rarely do I ever spend that much cash on games and $30 for some of these titles is just crazy. How long has Wario been out and how long has Metroid been out? I think the $39.99 I spent on VJ for GCN was some of the best $$ I've spent on a game and they've already dropped the price to $29.99(Check Kmart...Yes Kmart) If they could work things out on the software end, hardware would fall of the shelves..like ps2 for example. Their systems were turning up dead everywhere and people kept buying it because they could buy cheap games to start them out.

On a side note, you can get PS2 memory cards at kmart for $19.99 and the kmart I visited also had a clearance section for some decent games around $15-30...Check it out

And what happens when Nintendo drop the price to $29.99 instead of the unwritten "law" of $19.99? People. Still. Buy. Them.

Drop the price on the system, crank up the price for the games. The consumer only has to pay for the console once, but the average gamer has more than one game for it. Nail them in the wallet once, or nail them in the wallet multiple times? If you were a corp., what would you do? They don't want to make it more affordable for you, they want fluffier paychecks for themselves.

Metroid Prime is already on shelves as a GH title (saw the yellow stripe the other day). F-Zeros price has been circling around $30 for awhile
Wario has been out for about 10 months. IMO, that's pretty quick to be a GH title.

Hmm.. Let's ask Sony and Microsoft who both.. wait.. no, neither of them do this.

    NO EXCUSE.

Fuck Nintendo and their $30 Players Choice games. I already paid $30 for Animal Crossing which was only worth it because it came with a memory card. That's the ONLY game that is excusable. A a virtual flop like Mario Sunshine shouldn't be $30. Wario World shouldn't be $30. Frankly, I'm surprised Metroid is $20. Didn't that game do well? Did they get Wario and Metroid mixed up? Who is making up the prices here?

Nintendo is turning into the Michael Jackson of the video game industry. Back when they appeared, they were hot shit, and adored by all, and now they're just on the fucking moon. Pikmin 2 got pushed back to like July. The sequel to just about their only decent 1st party console game in a long time has been delayed. Great.

^ That's as good an analogy as I've heard in a while. Still though, assuming the Mario Golf on GCN is as good as the one for GBC a few years ago, it's well worth the 30 bones. Not saying I agree with their pricing models, just saying the forebearer was a wonderful game.

I can get along with the price drop to $30 on somewhat newer games, like Mario Golf that just came out a couple months ago. However if they're just going to $30....they shouldn't have it as a Player's Choice Title for the price slash. Keep a constant on your PC prices and to be frankly honest, I don't think anything can truely save Nintendo at this point. They've moved all over the board and simply don't have enough growth as a company to keep them strong. They will probably still be around for a while but I think Nintendo will only grow to be a thing of the past more and more. Like Michael Jackson

The only thing is, of course, that they just keep milking the Gameboy, so they can afford to keep screwing up. It's like they don't even care.

Boo hoo these companies are out to make money on their current systems. That should be obvious to everyone. If people are going to pay $30 for a game then why charge $20? It is the same thing with the mario remakes on the Gba, paying $30 for an old NES game.
