pffffff, final fantasy 12. I'm getting sick of final fantasy. Come up with something new. Or they should make a sequel to Vagrant Story. Now THAT was an rpg I liked.

To be accurate, Final Fantasy X-2 is just a follow-up to Final Fantasy X.

Final Fantasy XII is supposedly in development under the direction of FFIX's Hiroyuki Ito and Vagrant Story's Yasumi Matsuno. Maybe you'll like it, Arrrhalomynn.

Nope. They are releasing Final Fantasy 10.2 (X-2) which is Part 2 of the story about Yuna.

hello, this is obviously a new FF game and so must fall after FFXI.. I'll bet $10 this is called Final Fantasy 12 in the US (or 11 if 11 is canceled in the US, which it will be)

Not to quibble, but Square has produced Final Fantasy spinoffs before without making them part of the sequentially numbered series. Since Final Fantasy X-2 is a direct sequel to FFX, it's being presented as such. Hence, the logo:

You might be right about a name change in the U.S., though such a move would only confuse customers.

Okay Raedon, if Final Fantasy X-2 (pronounced 10-2 in Japan) becomes Final Fantasy 12 when imported to the U.S.....

What will Square call Final Fantasy XII when imported to the U.S.? See, your idea just doesn't make sense.

Probably the U.S. version will have exactly the same designation as the Japanese version: X-2. FF Online will be "11" and FFXII will be "12"

Also, March 2003 is the Japanese release date. We Americans have to wait a little longer (probably Christmas).

The reason Square chose the name "X-2" is because this is the only version of Final Fantasy with a direct sequel. All other FFs used new characters and fresh stories, whereas "X-2" is Final Fantasy 10, Part 2 with same setting/same characters.

final fantasy 11 will not be released for the ps2 not the online one anyway.. but this could fill the 11 number here in the US so when 12 comes out it fits unlike what happened with ff 3/ff 6

FF11 not released for American PS2s??? Ha! Yeah right. Sony would be absolutely stupid to make that move. It'd be like killing their playonline network.

FF11 and the playonline network are dead in the water. Even nintendo have said that Square made a huge mistake releasing that one.
