Sorry, I just have to say something about posts like this. So you're PROUD of the fact you spent $30,000 on videogames in the past three years and they're now only worth around $6,000? How many of these games have you actually played/beaten?Originally Posted by xmagxus

Standing up here, cause im in the same boat as xmagxus here (because ive got similar numbers in regards to the modern systems. NOTE that neither of us are counting our PSOne titles. I am at 440's, and he has over 800, which is still in production)Originally Posted by Sylentwulf
Hey its what we do. I play and enjoy my games. I admit that it is a bit overdone at times (well alot of the times) Im not doing this to resell them. In fact ive only ever sold back 1 game, and that was before i was serious into collecting.
In regards to MY modern games, ive played quite a lot of them. Though my PS2 games have been neglected as of late for the Xb and GCN games, particularly because i got my XBLive hooked back up, and ive been catching up. Dont get me wrong, I do have 4 almost full PS2 cards with game saves and game data on them.(My PSOne stuff has turned into a collection, I honestly dont have the time to play the number of games that have for that system, but I do have the 8 filled PSOne cards with data on them, and almost all of those games are completed) If you look at my older systems, I played every one of those games to death.
Ive bought a LOT of used, and saved alot of money. Im all up for saving money so I can maximize my number of games, and if that means waiting for a price drop, or for it to come in used, I can handle that. Im particualr about the condition of my used games and if it doesnt look good enough to me, then it doesnt come home. When ive got paychecks and no bills to worry about, the money is dropped on games.
I know that xmagxus buys his games new, and avoids used. But realize that if thats what he chooses to spend HIS money on, so be it. I know that he is allways playing his games, but I cant answer for how far he gets in all of them.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

Sylentwulf- Yeah I'm fairly proud of my collection, I mean afterall this is a collectors message board for the most part. I know for a fact AT LEAST 2 people that have more modern day games than me. One of which has over 300 xbox games, 280 ps2 games, and 180 gcn games - that blows my modern day collection out of the water.
Like papastu I tend to buy new, but I do make exceptions, actually I forgot that I do actually have one used ps2 game "Wizardry" Basically it was buy it used or don't buy it at all for me. As for how many games I beat? Well to be honest it would be impossible for me to beat every game I own or even play them all, I'd say that I playe 80 percent of them and play about 20 percent of them to completion. But of the ones I play I try and at least play it for a great deal of time even if it isn't to completion.
One other thing people NEVER factor in. CHEAP games I mean sure I buy new releases often, but at least 20 percent of my titles were bought at amazing prices (gitaroo man for 20 bucks new isn't too bad) or heck, after a coupon code I got summer heat beach volleyball for the price of shipping. Yeah these deals might be the minority, but every dollar saved counts.
EDIT: BTW I do not mean to come across as a "snob" in stating that I try to buy all my games new. I just have personal experience that scares me away from it (even if the odds of it happening to all used games is slim) My real life friend from a few years back used to "clean" his ps one games by putting them in the dishwasher with the rest of his dishes..... and with cd medium products I'm really paranoid about that stuff
I totally agree there. One thing that's kept me away from buying for the disc based systems (or collecting for them) is that you pay a ton of money to get a sealed copy, and then I can't play it 'cuz I don't like throwing my money out the window. :/Originally Posted by xmagxus
I would certainly never buy a used disc game without knowing the seller and having a description of the item.

There should really be more eReader games, I love those! Just THINKING about Clu Clu Land to pass the time until my next class... it's a beautiful thing...
I thought I had read in your original post that they were all bought at full price, if you buy a lot at discounted prices, then that's great, and congrats. The way I read it was that you bought them all from the store at the full $50 ($30 for gba) which is just weird
So, didn't mean to sound harsh, it just didn't make any sense to me why someone would blow that much cash and be proud of it.
Personally, I don't pay more than $25 for modern games, and $2 (rarity's exluded) for anything older than the PS2. I've beaten every modern game that I've bought (current backlog of about 5-10 games, which is where I like to keep it in case I hit a dry spell).

It's amazing how much easier it is to find cheap PS2 games (new & used). If it weren't for that I'd probably have half as many PS2 games as I do.
I just can't get into any Xbox stuff for whatever reason. ALthough I do have three future purchases in mind for it (The Suffering, Pandora, and ESPN Baseball).
I have no problems getting into the GC stuff, but when it comes to cross platform stuff I generally prefer the other controllers. Although I did get BG&E for 'cube recently.

GBA: 81, 9 of them are E-reader games (newest: Sonic Battle)
GCN: 28 (newest: Sonic Heroes)
PS2: 38 (Newest: Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven)
PS2 - 165 (most recent: Saturday Night Speedway)
Gamecube - around 50
Xbox - around 50
GBA - around 30
I too have purchased a vast majority of these new and sealed. I know I don't have any used GBA games. But with as much as I've spent I still consider myself a cheap bastard. I usually won't buy any of the new stuff until the price goes down. So yes, I guess I have a lot of the crappy games. I like the crappy games though, well except for Shifters for PS2.
The good stuff I waited patiently till it went to Greatest Hits or Platinum Hits or Player's Choice. Some were gifts.
With the exception of Kingdom Hearts I've never bought a game on release day. I figure I've got so much stuff there's no point in buying it right away. By the time I get around to playing it it'll probably be on clearance.
