I've been checking in there for about a month now trying to set up a few trades. I just seem to get alot of run-arounds.

I started to sign up but I got nervous about it and decided not to. Then I decided to send a letter to ebay requesting that they support trades. Here is a copy of a letter I sent to ebay. I would much rather trust ebay than some of these sites even though ebay has its faults as well, it is much bigger.

    --------------------------------------------------

I would really like to see ebay support TRADES. There are a lot of sites popping up to support trades (esp video games, http://gametz.com & http://www.tradegamesnow.com). This will take business away from ebay. I really trust ebay and would love to participate in trades but I do not trust these sites. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE add Trades to ebay. With all your technical workers there I am sure you guys can figure out something to get this working. Maybe you could add it to Half.com. I know there is a pre order feature but this pre order feature does not support the feature of a trade. If ebay wants to be the world's #1 online marketplace they need to support a big part of trade which is the actual TRADE of items not only the sale of items. I have spent around 10,000 dollars on ebay in the last year and sold about 5,000 on ebay and half.com. Please give this idea some serious consideration. Please write back. Please pass this idea on to management. It would really mean a lot to me if I could arrange trades on ebay.

    Thanks,
    Victor Richerson

Maybe they will listen and add trades to ebay. We'll see

Ebay would not profit from a trade. Why would they offer it.

Trading on eBay? That'd be silly.

As for tradegamesnow....I tried it....a couple of people I was trading with wanted me to rate them there....I signed up...and HATED it. 99% of all the items I had available for trade weren't even in their database. How sad is that? The guys were like "you can just email them and they'll add the games...." but why would I care to bother? Let em make their own friggin database....if I'm not getting paid to do it, I'm not gonna help em out. Feh. Worthless crappy site.

I've had some good trades there, overall its a good site.

But in the scheme of things, its very unorganized. I've seen games listed under 2-3 different names before (example "the adventures of rocky & bullwinkle, rocky & bullwinkle, rocky & bullwinkle adventures, etc). Plus -people don't seem to respond to you a lot & people dont keep there lists updated.

I am sure that ebay could find some way to profit from a trade

At any rate, they could be losing money because people trade games not buy them off ebay. I think this could be a really good thing for ebay. Maybe they will write me back and give me some hint at what they think about it.

Looking at the site, I'd have to pass. Pretty huge ban/suspend list, dismal game lists, and I can't be bothered to enter all my stuff for the 80th time for something I may never use.

v1rich, eBay will never do trades. They already have enough with people sending items, and people receiving items, so why would they want to increase the headaches when each seller is also a buyer, and vice versa? Sure, the feedback system is established and great, but there's no Paypal protection or otherwise to protect them and their users.

Why bother? There's no real profit and it's MUCH harder to regulate than auctions. It's a stupid idea. Pure and simple. Why fuck with a perfect business plan?
