That link of yours is asking me to sign up to their website.
Edit: Better now. Thanks.
So the only way it was going to get released was if they put them together?

That leaves me with conflicting feelings. On one hand, you're getting two games for one price. On the other, Sony's forcing Capcom to do it. So it's cool, but at the same time, it sucks. Damn, I'm confused. x_x
I wonder if a game company could sue Sony for the violation of their rights of free speech when their games are denied a US release? It may be an angle worth pursuing.

It's not directly stated, but it's my own inference. Think about it-sony won't let SNK release their recent 2d games, with the exception of KOF 2k and 2k1, which were bundled together to get across the pacific. If SF2 and SF3 are getting bundled together, but aren't getting bundled in an area such as europe, it implies, at least to me, that SCEA wouldn't let it in otherwise.

Maybe Capcom themselves decided to add in the extra game, thinking the package would sell better in America.
Why not? Video games are as much a form of creative expression as television or movies. When a company like Sony prevents you from releasing games on their system, and when they control the industry to such a degree that it's not financially viable to release them on other game systems, then wouldn't that mean you were denied your rights of free expression? Perhaps it's a bit of a stretch, but it wouldn't be the first time the Bill of Rights were creatively interpreted.Originally Posted by sisko

Whether you like it or not, (or realize it). Sony isn't the only people to deny licensing rights to publish games, Nintendo does it, and Microsoft does it too. If you're going to say that about one company, you'd better say it to all, including Sega.
I was worried because of the whole "Sony sucks" situation, but this is good news.
That article was corny btw.
