I have noticed that Nintendo for the most part does a good job of marketing when it comes to kids games that adults like to play. I have 2 young ones at home ages 5 and 3. And since their births I have been only able to play my XBOX , GC or PS2 when they are asleep, because when they are awake I lose all control over the TV.
So a few months back I picked up Luigi's Mansion. I thought maybe the kids would like to watch daddy play this game. It looks like a cartoon and it did not look too scarey. My kids were totally engrossed by the story. My oldest would talk about the game and actually try to come up with ways of rescuing Mario. If we went in a game store she would recognize all the characters like the Boos, Mario, Luigi and Bowser.
At Dinner time the kids would chant "Luigi , Luigi , Luigi" as a way of saying after dinner lets play Luigi.
After a few weeks we beat the game and rescued Mario.
I bought Super Mario Sunshine, but unlike Luigi's Mansion, that game was hard as hell and daddy was getting too frustrated with it. Still My 3 year old still belts out "SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE!!"
So in a desperate move to fill the void left by completing Luigi's Mansion we started playing Paper Mario for the N64.
Now every day the kids chant "Mario Paper!! Mario Paper!!"
I have to say that with the characters Like Mario,Luigi,Bowser,Princess Peach, The little mushroom toad guy, Koopas and the Boos.. Nintendo makes games that both kids and parent can enjoy together.
