if the game is more of simulation i usually do fairly well, if the game is arcade-like i usually suck. cant seem to get the hang of those.
I'm this good at racing games.
3-----------v----------- ----------v-----------E
(yes, the 3 and the E are fingers.)
(...and a v represents an elbow.)
How do you answer that? Really...
I'm much better at arcade-style driving games than realistic ones. As for how good I am...allow me to quote myself on OutRun:
I used to play it in the arcade, as a wee child. It was the sit-down version, and I felt very cool while playing it. I would choose my music, hop into the car with my girl, and crash repeatedly into billboards. 5 year old children can't drive very well.
i find myself to be pretty good at them. i will play pretty much any racing game that is not Cart racing or nascar racing. other than that i pretty much enjoy them all. i think the racing games that i was the best at are either gran turismo 3 or mario kart 64

BAD. Crash-and-burn-at-the-NASCAR-500-right-over-the-bleachers-and-into-the-parking-lot bad. Okay, that's a bit of an overstatement, but they are the genre I suck most at. I'm better at game such as Mario Kart and F-Zero. The more realistic, the suckier I am. I usually don't find myself getting past the friggin' second level of Outrun... well, not in the arcades anyway. Gran Turismo? Nuh-uh, eff that. I suck donkey at GT. I used to be pretty good at Hydro Thunder, but the Venice Canals broke me. You can see that racing games and I have a jagged history. Oh, and I've yet to beat the final level of Rad Racer. I beat Star Wars Episode I Racer pretty steadily... okay, I cheated to unlock everything. I'll spit you out at fighters. I'll gladly spit myself out at racers, thank you. Thus concludeth my "driving-suckiness" rant. x_x
... though, I DID score a Crazy license at Crazy Taxi... that's not really racing, though. And I used the Rickshaw.

Pretty much, I suck at em. I can never qualify and I always get frustrated. I prefer to set them at "no cars" mode and just drive along enjoying the sights.
I did stomp ass at Project Gotham Racing though!
I am the best.
Racing titles are my favorite type of game. Any racing, doesn't matter if it is futuristic, realistic, derby, rally, nascar, etc. I own more racing titles for current gen systems than anything else.
I can keep my cool no problem. The only time a get pissed is when people race dirty (when they shouldn't be) and when computer "AI", or cheating, kicks in.
I prefer realistic/simultaion racing games. I do also like the Arcade style racing games.
Some racing games I like:
Burnout 2
Nascar games
Outrun
Super Sprint
San Francisco Rush series
Pro Race Driver series
Derby Games (any)
Project Gotham Racing series
Need For Speed series
Coln Mcrare Rally series
Those are the first ones to come to mind.
not too good, but then again i really haven't played too many. i remember playing need for speed (the first one i think) and there was a code where you could just knock stuff over easily...we'd stay up all night seeing who could flip a school bus the most number of times. i have fzero for gamecube...i think that's the only racer in my collection (well, rad racer too) and i SUXORS then again...it didn't hold my attention long enough to get good at it.
i used to be pretty good at crash team racing...don't have it anymore...i think i even beat a few of the staff's ghosts. speaking of which, that game always owned mario kart imo...the battle modes were just so much better (turn on/off weapons ie no freaking RED turtle/missle) and so were the layouts. i think i'm the only one in existense that owns a gcn and not a ps2 and holds this opinion tho.
Racing games are my forte. They are my favourite genre of game and few people can match me. I find the easy to finish as well. I don't have many incomplete racing games.
I enjoy racing games a lot and have quite a few of them in my collection. I've spent hours and long nights trying to conquer the hardest challenges in some of them.
Here are some of my favorites:

RC Pro-AM (NES)
Super Mario Kart (SNES)
F-Zero (SNES)
Rock 'N Roll Racing (SNES)
Biker Mice From Mars (SNES)
Top Gear (SNES)
Top Gear 3000 (SNES)
Championship Pro-Am (Genesis)
Virtua Racing (Genesis)
Outrun (Genesis)
Mario Kart 64 (N64)
Diddy Kong Racing (N64)
Star Wars Episode 1 Racer (N64)
Gran Turismo 2 (PSX)
Gran Turismo 3 (PS2)

Midnight Club II (PS2)
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 (PS2)
Burnout 2: Point Of Impact (GC)
4X4 Evo 2 (GC)
Mario Kart Double Dash!! (GC)
Racing titles on my want list:
Rock 'N Roll Racing (SNES) (Surprisingly for this being an R3, and how long I've been searching, a copy hasn't popped up yet)
Beetle Adventure Racing (N64)
Star Wars Episode 1: Racer (N64) (Don't own a copy of my own yet)
Burnout 2 (PS2 or GC) (now that it's $20 new I'll probably pick up a copy soon)
Midnight Club (PS2) (Borrowed it, played through most of it, surprisingly haven't bought my own copy yet)
Top Gear Daredevil (PS2)
Mario Kart Double Dash!! (GC) (Waiting for the price to drop)
Need For Speed Underground (PS2 or GC) (Ditto)
Midnight Club II (PS2) (Ditto)
EDIT: Updated favorites list. The want list remains unchanged - I decided to address the update to that in a new post on page 2.
I'm not too good at most.
I think "Top Gear Rally" on N64 was the last real Racing game I actually got into. Other than that, I suck ass.
I'm more a fan of the Kart variety of racing games. There's nothing like lobbing a blunt object at the dumbass who just cut you off.
In the 8bit and 16 bit- times I found racers very boring ((not enough gameplay value), that changed dramatically when I discovered Gran Turismo 3 and then other racers on other more current systems.
I'm not getting frustrated when I can blame only myself and not bad controls. I play games for too long, so I know it's just a matter of time and practice to get it right.
I did it all in GT3, I got every gold medal in every license test (including S-license), beat all the records in time trial by 2.5 to 5 secs, and got every unlockable car. The completion rate is 100%.
F-Zero GX I won every championship on the third difficulty setting, the last difficulty setting (Master??) was a bit too much for me.
In Test drive Le mans I did everything, Metropolis Street racer, Quantum Redshift, Colin McRae 3, Need for Speed 2 Hot Pursuit, Project Gotham Racing, and on Project Gotham racing 2 and Colin McRae 4 I'm working now.
I don't care if the emphasis is on the arcade side or on the simulator side as long as the control is good, and then the graphics are well done. Those two aspects are key.
Since the Dreamcast racers are truly worthwhile playing, the development of 3D, artificial intelligence and physics engines improved racing games dramatically.
BTW, I love these racers, and I'm someone who preferred (and still does) RPGs and adventure games.
Most recent racers I'v eplayed was F-Zero X, Diddky Kong Racing and Mario Kart 64 on the N64. What DC racers are worth looking into (if I can find any anymore)?
My Gaming Collection (Now at Google Drive!)
My favorite genre. No question.
I feel that I am rather competent, and can hold my own against others, were I challenged to a race. I can play either, but realistic racing is more fun to me, honestly.
Favorite titles, in order of preference:
Gran Turismo 3 (will surely be replaced by 4 once it is available)
Project Gotham Racing 2
F-Zero
F-Zero GX
Need for Speed: Underground
Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero
I more serious when it comes to racing games then others myself seeing how I have to concentrate more.
My Gaming Collection (Now at Google Drive!)
I love racing/driving games!
Those are my feelings exactly!I don't care if the emphasis is on the arcade side or on the simulator side as long as the control is good, and then the graphics are well done. Those two aspects are key.
I wish there were more (good) auto combat games like the interstate series on the PC too.
Out of all my consoles the GBA SP is the only one I don't have a decent racing title for.
I´m not an expert, but i´m pretty good, i usually go to the arcades with my friends and always win...in the arcades my fav games are...
Daytona USA
Daytona USA 2
Cruis´n USA
San Francisco rush 2049
I don't really suck at them, but I'm not the greatest racer. But my times in Super Mario Kart are usually pretty quick, and I can beat any of my friends (save a track or two). I tend to be better at cartoony games, your Crazy Taxis, your Star Wars Episode I Racers, that sort. Although I have been known to get many a free game in Alpine Racer II (and bust out some "fly" tricks in the process).
For some reason if the game name has "Driven" in it, I'm most excellent at it.
Hard Driven
Race Driven: I love and am excellent at both
Night Driver (technically not Driven, but still good at)
I'm also decent at
Turbo
Super Sprint (Does that count?)
I also used to be great at this game when you drove a dune buggy over the desert jumping rocks and such. I forget the name but I was really good at it.
I am God at 18 Wheeler Pro Trucker on the DC
The rest, I am the suck. x_x
- I don't really like my friends. Yeah, I don't really like your friends either. -
Lee Harvey Oswald was not a male model... You're god damn right he wasn't, but those two lookers who capped Kennedy from the grassy knoll sure as shit were.-
