I don't know how rare it is but it would be hella cool to have one. Any more info on it?

When I search for it on the net the sites say "most wanted" and "more info needed" etc. so I guess it's extremely rare. I haven't looked everywhere though.

Made in 1988 and costed 138000 yen! (approx. $1300); making it one of the most expensive units ever....

    Cool!

More rare than the LT, yep, that's the rarest I know of.

Nice find! I want one too :)

138K yen is expensive? That's not a lot compared to the Teradrive...but then...Anyhow, that's most certainly yellowed. Still pretty nice.

Probably ONE of the rarest. Don't know if it's THE rarest tho. NEC put out some wild shit....complete Surround Sound systems with the PC Engine stamp, HudsonSoft PC Engine speaker sets, all sorts of great super high end merch. But yeah....good buy! I'd buy it

It reminds me a lot of this:

    http://assembler.roarvgm.com/Sharp_X-1/sharp_x-1.html

I'd guess that would probably be the only other PCE variation that's equally rare. Very nice find!

Hmm...know of anything else that has a PC-Engine inside, though?

I don't think I've seen the Surround Sound system...I've seen a Core with speakers and stuff, pretty much ho hum that though :)

I've seen an X1 turbo on eBay once before (though I don't check every week ;) and as I've never done a search for this item I've never seen it.

That doesn't mean much, but I'd say that this thing has probably shown up on eBay very rarely if ever. It's always possible it'd show up in the wrong section, but I highly doubt that. Maybe on Yahoo! Auctions Japan, but I don't see anybody selling obscure Japanese hardware without knowing what it is.

there was one on Yahoo Japan not so long ago.
I think it didn't sell and the auction was entended.

if you have Yahoo Japan login you can fins it under PC Engine area.

    cheers

Well, the LT is anything but rare these days. Must be at least 15 every year on ebay. Still expensive though...

The Power Console, or whatever it's called, is technically the rarest PC-Engine hardware. It made it to prototype only, and there was one on Yahoo Japan some many years ago.

The reserve was set well above 5-digits, but not hit.

    Power Console, ooh

Looks nifty, and anything that makes your console bigger/taller is good, right? :P
