    Default Consule Dev Kits

Hi, i hope this is the right forum to post this in, so if it's not, sorry mods! Anywho, I have a question about Consule Development Kits.

I know that Nintendo had Development kits out for the NES, SNES and Game Boy, and i was wondering if anyone out there could get me information about them, like mainly where to find them. I just sent out a letter today via snail mail to Nintendo asking for information about their old kits hoping to find one.

If anyone knows how to get one or if anyone has one let me know. Really want my own Dev kit so i can program some of my own games. All information is appreciated. And if anyone has comments about this in general too, great! Post 'Em!

Your chances of getting a response from Nintendo are almost non-existent.

However, if you feel like learning machine language, you can set up your own development environment without any of the official tools. All you need is an assembler like DASM or P65 to generate 6502 code, and an emulator to test it out on. (You'll need a Z80 assembler for Gameboy development, or a 65C816 assembler for the SNES).

There have been many homebrew Gameboy games created, so I'm sure you can find some good information pages on how to develop for it.

I've thought for a while that it would be interesting to own a dev kit. Basically, though (like Ze_ro says), a modern PC will suffice. I used to imagine dev kits as cabinet-sized computers that did all sorts of magical things and pooped out a Nintendo cart. heehee.
