It's not a rare title. I see this all over the place, but if you enjoy shooters it's a good grab.

The lab boss isn't too hard. For the first part, just charge your cannon and let the force take out the little spermies, then fire at the blowing bit (ram the force into it if you want). once it's dead, get ready to fly under the head as it drops. Get behind it, move the force to your back to defend against spermies, and charge your cannon up. Now, move the force back to the front once the head is gone. This is where it can get tricky. What I like to do is fly right in front of the thing, so that the force can destroy one of the postule things on the front, then fire the wave cannon into the hole. If you've got an anchor force from the R-13 series, shoot that in, too, it'll latch on and kill the bos fairly quick. If you've got the needle force, just fire it out and hold down the rapid fire button, and watch the fireworks. The Tentacle Force's homing laser works well, and if you've got a strong enough wave cannon, you can generally kill the thing in the first couple blows. The postules themselves home in on your position everytime they move in a direction, so don't get backed into a corner.
