    Default 7800 cable

I have a 7800 that I bought at Goodwill that does not have a cable to hook it into the TV. When I tried using a TV coaxial cable the game comes up, but with a lot of static.

So, is there anything I can do about this?

Use one of these, they're much better than a switchbox.

You can get them at Radio Shack for $5

Well, I got one of those adapters today. Now the 7800 won't work at all.

It's been a while since I last tried it. Maybe the cartridge slot just needs some cleaning? How are you supposed to clean this thing?

Remember, the 7800 only uses channels 2 and 3. Not 4.

That was my problem. It's funny how the little things are always the ones that get you.

Another slight problem: When I first turn on the console, I get a very garbled up, staticish picture, yet when I turn switch to another channel and switch back, the picture is fine. Perhaps it has something to do with the TV I'm using?

At least I have a working Atari console once again. Thanks a lot!

That garble is likely your TV 'auto tuning'. When you flip ther channel back and forth, you are telling it to 're tune' that channel.
