Default Bad screens on the NES themed GBA SP?

I purchased one on Wednesday, and ther was one pixel on the screen glowing RED all the time. It did not matter what I was doing, it was there. It was near the top, but why keep something like this? So I return it on Thursday for an exchange, and I take my 2nd GBA SP home. I turn it on, ....and there's a glowing WHITE pixel in the middle of the freakin' screen! This is even worse. I tried playing a game with dark backgrounds and it's irritatating. It looked like Mega Man was hopelessly chasing a fly or something :lol Guess I have to return my second GBA SP and hopefully the third which I will pick up today will have better luck.

I havent heard of this issue before, but I have heard of the missing pixels or whatever that make the screens looks squished.

    Leary of buying one now....

i ve never had that kind of problem with my SP...but i could see that happenin...guess all you have to do is take it back again....this time id recommend takin a game, and tryin it in the store before you get home....that way youll save the hassle of going back AGAIN if there is a problem

That's a problem with the NES classic games not the system it's self.

These are on the screen, not in the games. Well, they show up on EVERY game

LCD monitors are infamous for this. My monitor I'm using now has 3 dead pixels and the company wouldn't swap it out because that's "within tolerance" or some such foolishness.

Hey Daria...for the Harvest Moon Cow, does the tag differentiate whether it was the bonus freebee for the GC or GBA version or was it the same giveaway for both games? Thanks!

I'm at my second SP, and I've never had a problem of dead pixels with neither one of them.

The tag's for the Gamecube game, but I'm sure a lot of stores gave away the cow for either preorder.

The only tag difference is for the PS2 cow, which also has a darker (or is it lighter?) collar.

Edit: And is that a Warsong avie I spy? :P

This is a known issue with the majority of LCD screens. It is not a dead pixel, but a dust particle. Apparently it is difficult to keep them completely dust free in the manufacturing process. I had to return my SP FOUR times before I got a dust free one.

BTW: I should add that this very issue was covered in a Gamepro issue earlier this year, so it is not just you!

Got my 3rd today, and ANOTHER ONE ...

This time it is RED again, not white, but this one is even CLOSER to the center of the screen.

When I returned the second, the store (Best Buy) was getting suspicious and shit and aksing me WHERE the 'dead pixel' was. I think I've given up, I am not happy with this at all, and it's noticeable being in the center of the screen, though it's not as bad as having something WHITE in the middle of a dark background. I wish I had the first one back, since that one had it way off to the side of the screen where in a normal GB/GBC game, it wouldn't even be in the playing area. So this one is not as good as the first, but better than the second. However, this one's backlight has a blueish tint to everything. I always had luck with Nintendo until the Gamecube (first one didn't work).....

DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO! I think they don't have any left. I've bought and returned all they had in stock. Perhaps I should go to another store...

My NORMAL GBA (non-SP) was okay on the very first one..

After reading these posts, I pointed the problem out to a friend and he says that both his and his friends SP's have a dot glowing just the left of the screen. Says he hardly ever notices it, but it from all the SP's he's looked at now (15 or so) all of them had it, though often times in very hard to notice areas like the corners. But he says it seems to be a consistant issue with all sp's. Just thought I'd let you all know, since he'd never post it.

I remember reading an article a few weeks ago that mentioned that theres a LCD screen shortage in the world right now, and that it might affect the development of future portables, specially the GB DS and PSP, ....maybe nintendo is rushing the lcd-makers, and theyre using less quality materials ...

    UPDATE:

After a third unit had a bum pixel or whatever on it, I gave up. I sat on it for 2 weeks (not literally), and I just couldn't ignore a red dot in the center of the screen pretty much, plus the backlight had a bluish tint to it (perhaps all of them had this but I wasn't paying attention?). Either way, yuk. I swear I could see waving noise lines in the picture on light backgrounds when paused. Anyways, after 2 weeks, I decided to try a DIFFERENT location (same store), several cities away. Figured perhaps the store I got the previous three from perhaps had a batch of bad GBAs. So I try a difference place and do an exchange for what is now my 4th one, and I opened it up right in the store. Works fine, no bum pixels or anything. First try (at second place). I still notice a bluish tint to the backlight, but this was probably the case for all, just didn't notice it before.

So this has a happy ending after all. 4th time was a charm. Have a GOOD screen. Yay!

Man, that was some seriously unfortunate luck. Both my cobalt and NES GBASPs both were flawless when I got em..first try.

You tried with another bestbuy, and you got it perfect now?

I think I know why its happen. One disgruntled employee has been kicking, punching and throwing the entire box of gba shipped to the previous store. No wonder its all broken.
