$7 for insurance? I think that most people just pull random numbers out of their asses for insurance fees.

Insurance can often double or triple the cost of postage on international transactions. I'm not sure what it is from their country here, but from the US to anywhere else it works something like this..

Standard Airmail shipping, is Air Letter Post, that includes small boxes up to 4 lbs, rate varies depending on weight, but this is the most economical, & speedy way to ship. 4-7 day mail on average. But you can NOT insure Air letter post, so if I was to ship a 3lb pacakge to Canada ALP would cost $8.95 take 4-7 days, and would not travel insured.

To add insurance to that, I would need to upgrade/downgrade? to Air Parcel Post, for same weight, still Air, now a 4-10 day travel, the rate would go up to $14.25 (difference of $5.20) & then you tack on insurance ($1.85 up to $50) so an additional $7.05 to send insured.

That's on a 3lb parcel. If it were a single game like in the above auction, less weight, say a 1lb package boxed up, you'd be looking at a difference of $12 give or take on the same pacakge to go insured, around $3.75 shipped without insurance, & $15.05 insured.. Those are just rates to Canada, they vary depending on where it's being shipped, but from US out, that's the way Airmail works, and it CAN jump up like that to add insurance to the pacakge. From other countries here, or throughout the world I have no idea, but I wouldn't doubt if it's something similar.
