you can use an american memory card on a japanese system.i have heard that some jap game saves will re-format the memory card to japanese settings, and overwrite any american game saves and settings.but, that hasnt happend to me.i have my american and import game saves on the same memory card.

Just out of curiousity, why are you getting a JP GCN (Since you can play JP games on a US system with a Freeloader)?

Oh, and I can confirm that JP saves from Zelda: 4 Swords, Doubutsu No Mori e+, and Hudson Collection Vol. 3: PC Genjin work fine on cards with US saves.
    Egbert, I miss you...

BUT... to be on the safe side, get a new memory card for the Japanese games. Quite often you can only save properly on a Japanese formatted card. You can now import Donkey Konga if you get one! And Mr Driller DrillLand. Or you could just get your current US Cube modded with a switch to play Japanese games (like my one).
