I am probably what is called in computer circles an "early adopter." That is, I was one until I got married. Now I am probably more of a "when my wife says it's ok adopter."
Either way, back in January of 1995, I bought a PlayStation from Japan. The thing was not released in the US until September of that year as you recall.
I still have the thing in my parents garage in LA and it is in good shape despite the many years of play and travel with it.
The machine cost me US$700 in 1995 complete with Ridge Racer and TohShinDen. The serial number clearly shows it as one of the famous first 100,000 units ever sold worldwide. It still has it's box and manuals along with all it's cables and original controllers.
Some folks might laugh at what I paid for the thing, and I'll probably never get the money back that I invested in it, but I'm pretty proud of it.
I'll share some photos of it after I take some on my next trip home.
So, does anyone care about this? Care to venture a guess as to it's worth? Is it just garbage in my collection of dusting and aging consoles? Would I be better off just dusting off my PC-Engine and playing another round of Space Harrier?
