I'm looking for some present day music that incorporates classic video game noise (beeps, bloops, etc). My friend sent me a song by Grandaddy called "A.M. 180" that has a great sound, and I was wondering what else was out there.
Thanks,
Jeff

You've found the Tony Fox NYC and 8-Bit Weapon mp3s on this website, correct?
Maybe if you dig around the newer synthpop (Felix Da Housecat, Freezepop, Ladytron) you might find something. But here's a few I know for a fact:
Aphex Twin - "Powerpill Pacman" - The name should tell you
Aphex Twin - "Bucephalus Bouncing Ball" - I heard Defender in this song.
DJ Qbert - "Redworm" - He loops Donkey Kong for a little bit.
Mixmaster Mike - "Terrorwrist" - NBA Jam sample at the very end, among others.
DJ Spooky on Riddim Warfare
Beastie Boys on Hello Nasty

Psilodump
Psilodump's "Lastades Krama" and "The Somnambulist (Din Stalker Remix)" might fit the bill it you're looking for something techno-y. =)
Oh yeh. Long-time reader, first-time poster. Odd how it often works that way.

Try these albums:
The Anniversary- Designing a nervous breakdown
The Hockey Night-Rad Zapping
What about Kylie Minogue's "Can't get you out of my head" and "Slow". Not really arcade bleeps, more NES-like tunes. Still pretty retro though
Dj Clue - Super Mario Bros Remix .. Name Says It All.. Rapping Over Super Mario Theme.. Done Nice by Dj Clue
The minibosses and The advantage play nintendo covers
Horse The Band - they call themselves nintendocore
Eyes - Pete and Pete, Bullet Ballet
Ears - Exploding Hearts , Tattle Tales
Hands - Neutopia II, NBA Live 05
Freezepop is good, I guess I just have a thing for Sythpop.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Number 1 in the 'hood g!
No Doubt's "Running" uses old Game Boy type sounds.
The occasional Stereolab song has a moog in it that sounds like something 8-bit era-ish. Check out later records by them like Dots and Loops, Cobra and Phases Group Play Voltage in the Milky Night, or the newest one, Margarine Eclipse. The double album (triple vinyl) Aluminum Tunes has lots of interesting textures, but not much sounds particularly video gameish.
If you can stomach it, Speak and Spell- and A broken Frame-era Depeche mode uses those Moog Sources as well, which sound like C64 CMOS chips. But the songwriting... x_x
What's the name of the song currently on the radio that has the sound Pac-Man makes after he eats a power pill and the ghosts turn blue? It's probably already been mentioned, but I'd like to know what it is.
Edit: I don't think it's Aphex Twin either.

"I am way too lesbian for that shit."
Oh yeah, I remember this.... I used to have it on my comp, cool song.Originally Posted by SebasC
'The Postal Service' , a lot of their instrumentals remind me of old school videogame tunes, namely "Brand New Colony" and "Such Great Heights".
Currently Playing: Limbo, CoD: MW2
XBL: Kazaam McFresh
Check out Rob Hubbard. He has some crazy c64 mixes.
'N Sync has a song like that called "The game is over." My sister used to like them, OK?
